5My Sharp LC70LE735U Experience
By tkeeg
Hello everyone,My current TV, up until last week, had been the 65" Mitsubishi High Definition Rear Projection TV, model # WS-65813 Diamond Series. It was Mitsubishi's top of the line TV at the time and arguably one of the best performing HDTV's in 2004, #when I purchased it new#, and it is still working like new today. I'm one of those people who didn't need a new TV, but wanted a new, slim TV so I spent the past few months researching which one to buy. After spending countless hours on forums and reading endless reviews on different models and after viewing many of the contenders in person, I chose the Sharp Aquos LC-70LE735U and am so glad that I did.I ordered the TV and am happy to report that it arrived in perfect condition six days ago without so much as a mark on the box it came in. I don't know if it is because I am getting older or not, but I must say the TV felt heavier than the 99 pounds it is listed at.Anyway, on the same day that I ordered the TV I had measured the height from the floor in my living room to where my face is located while sitting on the couch. I then used that measurement to calculate how high of a stand I would need so that my face would be perfectly centered in the screen of this TV during normal viewing. Based on those measurements I purchased a cabinet that stood exactly 17" high. When I put the TV on top it, using the stand that came with the TV, it lined up perfectly for my seated viewing position on the couch, with my eyes being dead center to the height of the screen. From the TV screen to my face is 10 feet and for me it seems like a perfect distance for both regular & 3D viewing of a TV of this size.Moving on to the calibration of this new TV. The TV worked great right out of the box, but I know that a properly calibrated TV gives a superior picture. Because of this I researched all of the available calibration DVD's that were available for self calibration of a TV.. I am aware that this is not as good as paying professional to do it, but for my purpose, it will suffice since my viewing preferences may not exactly match that of a hired calibrator. I decided to go with the new Disney WOW Calibration Disc in Blu-Ray. It is in stock & very reasonably priced at several online retailers. Anyway I spent several hours with this disc and am so glad that I bought it. I can't say enough good things about it. It was easy to use and had a lot of powerful tools on it to assist in making your TV the best that it can be when doing the calibration yourself. After I was all finished with the calibration I sat back & viewed the fruits of my labor while watching the "Experience" part of the Disney WOW Calibration Disc. For those of you who don't know, the Experience" part of the disc is a series of clips from different Disney movies that will really show off the picture details & colors of your new set. All I can say of OMG....I couldn't believe how fantastic this TV looked! I am so glad that I bought it over the other TV brands available. I would have liked to have posted some still shots that I took of a few of the clips off the TV, but unfortunately there is no utility on Sharp's website to do that for a review. The next thing I tried out was the 3D capabilities. With a TV of this caliber & price point I would expect to have at least two pairs of 3D glasses included, but sadly, none are so I bought 4 of the Sharp AN-3DG20-B glasses separately. They are lightweight and fit well over my prescription glasses. Since I don't own any 3D movies I used the On Demand feature of my Comcast Service and watched some of their free 3D content. All I can say again is OMG. The 3D is outstanding! I was blown away and so were a few friends who came over to check out the new TV.Is this TV perfect....no. If you look for faults you will eventually find some very minor ones on certain content, but this is true of all TV's. In my humble opinion is about as close to perfect as you can get with today's technology at this price point.Shortly before posting this review, I watched several network shows including Dancing With the Stars & X-Factor on Comcast Cable. I have to say that I was just blown away by the sharpness, color depth, details & black levels displayed by this TV. It was in a word....AWESOME !Maybe I'm just lucky & got an exceptionally good set I don't know, but I am one VERY HAPPY Sharp Aquos LC-70LE735U owner !Regards,Tom from New Jersey

5Even Better than Plasmas!
By Hip Hop Dude
I purchased a Sharp 70LE734u a few months ago for my bedroom, and have been so impressed by it that I decided to "upgrade" my 63" Samsung Plasma (PN63C8000) to a new Sharp 70LE735u. I decided to go with the 735u because it offers 3D capability, and I've heard from a few Magnolia salespeople that manufacturers put their best processors into their 3D sets. The picture is amazing on both of my Sharp 70 incher's, but I think I give a slight edge to the 735u for a picture that "pops" right out of the box. What can I say, these sets are enormous, with big bright colorful pictures to match! I think the "Quattron" 4th color (adds yellow to the pixels) really is worth it, I've never seen such bright, vibrant colors. And according to their Energy Star labels, only cost about $22/year to run. The only negative thing I can think of to say is that now I find it very difficult to tear myself away from the tv screen. I doubt I'll go to any concerts or sporting events anytime soon, as watching them on these sets is actually better than being there, in my opinion! Compared to my Samsung plasma, the Sharp's picture is bigger, brighter, more colorful, and more lifelike to me. From someone who's owned about 15+ plasmas in his life, my advice is to buy the largest screen that will fit and that you can afford. For those lucky enough to be able to own one of these Sharp's, enjoy!

4Disappointing at First but Great TV After Some Calibration.
By sarifin
Being a technology professional, My expectation on this television was quite high from the moment I saw it in Best Buy. I did a good amount of research for about 2 weeks. Read every reviews about this television in online stores, watched every You Tube Video's about Sharp Products in the same line spoke to sales associates in two major stores. One thing I could not understand why people gave this TV a 5 start rating. In my opinion in this world of evolving technology there are very few products that deserves a 5 start. Oh well, after 10 days I can say that this TV deserves a 4+ ratings in my opinion.Watching Blue Ray DVD in Best Buy was quite satisfactory in this TV but my concern was much more about quality of HD channels from my Cable box.Oh well, finally ordered and received this TV about 10 days ago from Amazon. Saved about $500 as Best Buy would not match Amazon Price.Initial experience of this TV was not as pleasing as I thought would be. I was almost wanted to call the Amazon vendor and return this TV, but decided to start playing with picture calibration settings.Took about two days to adjust these settings to close to perfect.Within a day after calibration, I realized why this TV is rated 5 in most reviews. The pictures are amazing. HD video from Cable Box looks amazing and Blue Ray DVD's are just flawless.I am giving this TV a 4 Start cause, I did notice few minor issue. In my honest opinion TV this size and caliber should not have few of these issues. Here the pros and cons of this TV as per my 10days of experience.Pros------- Nice Size, Perfect for a room size of 15-20 foot.- Amazing picture when configured properly.- Lots of Applications including Netflix, Youtube, Pandora, VUDU, Blockbuster, Picasa.- Wireless internet is flawless.- Plays DLNA content very well, no lag at all.- Easy to use Remote.- Good 3D quality (Only Tried 3D demos so far)- 2D to 3D conversation works well.Cons-------- Sound is not as good as it should be for TV this size and caliber.- No 3D glasses, had to buy extra glasses.- Took good amount of time to calibrate, colors, hue, sharpness.- I am not sure if this TV is true 240hz. Aqua motion seems Sharps own interpretation of 240hz.- Did notice some pixilation in first few days.- Heavy about 100LB.

5Best TV for Holiday's 2012
By Mark Douglas
Awesome TV. I purchased it on Black Friday after doing tons of research and there's no better deal. This TV is all about picture quality with none of the other features like 3D and Smart Apps that you don't need. It's really thin, has a small bezel and looks great. I would tune the picture settings after you get it. That makes a surprisingly big difference in getting the picture to look really true to life. I used settings from lcdtvbuyingguide.com and they looked great. 4Beautiful as advertised
By S. Rao
In the myriad list of televisions its always confusing as to what to buy as all of them although separated by a number in their models have a wealth of differences aka the 6003 and the ES6000. First there are three main features in the Samsung TV's one can classify a)The SMART (software piece) , b) The 3D piece and the c) Form factor and refresh rate. I know I wanted a TV which was not 3D , not SMART (too many bad reviews about this being unusable) but had the slim form factor (1.2-1.8) and a refresh rate of 120hz or higher. The ES6003 is the one which fits this review. The ES6000 is the "fatter" television with the same features as this one and the ES6100 is the SMART portion added each adds or subtracts 300 bucks from the TV price when compared at the same size. At 999 this was a good choice. Not a lot of adjustment for the picture settings , not too much of a bleed at the edges , lighter than the older TV's I have had and perfect for a normal living room. So far pretty happy with this TV. There is a feature matrix below each of the Samsung TV's on Amazon which is a good reference before one makes up their minds on which TV they want.

5A great package without the kiddie features.
By TheBronxBull
I bought the 6003 this past week from Amazon, and this was the only model that fit what I was looking for. My criteria was the following:1) No SmartTV Features: I already have an Apple TV, which is essentially the equivalent of the Samsung "Smart" features, but more refined, I feel. As such, and in addition to a slew of reviews I've read about the "Smart" technology being slow and antiquated, I felt as though choosing between a television that is cheaper by $100 and the "Smart TV" features, I would take the former. Also, being that an Apple TV is only $99, and is a much better package, this was an easy choice. Navigating through the Samsung menus is like flying a helicopter through a rainforest; they simply cannot beat the Apple software UI.2) No 3D Capability: Also, I have zero interest in 3D. I'm sure there are people out there that enjoy the features for their kids and all, but I feel as though it's a gimmick; both the 3D features in theaters, as well as the 3D TV's at home, I believe, will both be phased out and known as a "fad." In fact, I actually *prefer* to see a movie in 2D at the theaters, since I think it takes away from the film a bit (the maybe one exception being Martin Scorsese's Hugo).3) Ultra-Slim and Bezel: One of the most important features I wanted was an extremely thin bezel, and the thinnest TV I could buy. When comparing the thickness of the regular Samsung TV's vs the slim versions, it's a huge difference (3.8" in the thickest part vs 1.8") - the latter being exceptional in the cosmetic department, which, in my opinion, future-proofs the purchase a bit more. On the edge of the televisions, it's seriously about 3/4" thick, which simply looks beautiful. I love the Samsung televisions because of the great picture quality and features, but also because of their thin, light, and simple designs.4) Technical Specs: I wanted the 1080P resolution, the 120hz refresh rate, and the 46" model.Negatives: the one negative thing I have to say about this television is that it only has two HDMI ports. That being said, I only use two, since my A/V receiver accepts everything else. If you bump up to the next model with the SmartTV features, you gain one additional HDMI port - not worth the money for another $100.Conclusion: after doing my research based on the above criteria, Samsung's 6003 model was the *only* one that fit the bill - no SmartTV (don't want to pay for features I'm not going to use), no 3D (waste of money, I believe), the Ultra-Slim form factor, and all of the technical features which make the display so great. At $697, I felt this was a great price - and I really liked saving money by not having the features I deemed obsolete.

4Expectations Run High
By Christopher Deweese
When you spend $1500 on a piece of technology you have certain assumptions and expectations about it. You do your research the best you can and hope that your purchase will be everything you hoped it would be. Occasionally, you are thrown for a loop and presented with some challenges that you didn't anticipate. That's what happened to me when I picked up this excellent TV. My old Sony LCD did not have HDMI ports, so I was relegated to the spaghetti bowl of component hookups to achieve high definition. I just had to have a TV with HDMI, so when I was finally in the market I knew it would have to be at least 46", LCD or something comparable, full 1080p, and have plenty of HDMI ports on it. With the exception of one small issue, this TV is everything I wanted.I must say that the Samsung UN46C6500 LED TV is astonishing to look at. The colors are rich and saturated, black levels are the blackest I've ever seen, and the images are crisp and clear. The screen is a glossy finish, so it does reflect any light you might have in the room, but it's not overly distracting. The panel itself is super thin, only about one inch thick. The stand is very sturdy. Touch sensitive buttons line the lower right hand corner of the panel (kind of hard to see, but they're responsive). The bezel has a brushed matte charcoal grey strip covering a transparent acrylic (very elegant). The one problem I have with this TV is not listed anywhere except inside the manual. I didn't see any other documentation or warnings about this, so I was a little disappointed when I encountered it. This TV is not compatible with HDMI versions older than 1.3. My old Onkyo receiver (TX-SR604) came with HDMI 1.1, so the TV would not display images through it. I had always thought that HDMI was backwards compatible. It's not on this TV, and the manual clearly says that if you have any components with HDMI versions older than 1.3 you may have issues with sound and video. Beware.Because I was so disappointed that I would not be able to use HDMI through my receiver, I decided to upgrade to the Denon AVR-791 (which supports HDMI 1.4 and is 3D ready). Even though I'm another $500 poorer, I'm an extremely happy camper. Watching Avatar on blu-ray with this setup is truly amazing. The TV performs wonderfully and is otherwise exactly what I was wanting. I have not ventured into the internet TV features, but that's on the horizon. Unfortunately, the TV is not wifi compatible (unless you buy a USB adapter), so you'll need to use an ethernet cable (I actually knew this before buying).Samsung makes incredible LCD and LED TV's. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a high definition viewing experience. Hopefully, my review will educate and warn those with older components. HDMI is the way to go, but you can always fall back on component cables if you have to. That just wasn't an option for me. When all is said and done, I don't regret my purchase at all. The end result was well worth the journey.

3Good picture, very bad sound and other deficiencies
By Yee Lee
What's good: an excellent picture (good blacks, vivid though slightly unnatural colors), classy looking thin panelWhat's bad: very poor sound (single back-firing speaker, not even stereo sound),highly reflective screen (glare problem), ugly and obstructive 4-footed stand, poorly designed remote control, WiFi setup buggy.Had this TV for about a month, have not yet calibrated it with a HDTV calibration DVD but was able to eyeball adjust the brightness, contrast, and color settings to get a very pleasing picture. But no amount of playing with the audio settings could I get a decent sound. Dialogs all sound tinny, the best I could do was to cut the "10K" equalization setting down to minimum to reduce the "tinny-ness" of spoken words at the expense of getting much high frequency with music. Neither could I get any stereo effect out of the TV and playing with the "balance" audio setting made no difference in the sound. The reason became clear when I opened the back plate of the TV. The sound comes from a single 3" back-firing speaker, driven by a single pair of wires from the audio board. The 3" speaker is pancake flat, giving the cone little extension for producing the lower frequency sounds. A single pair of wires can produce only one channel of sound and my guess it's a mono channel. I cannot understand why the specification claims "10 Watts x 2 audio power stereo broadcast reception" when there is only one speaker. The obvious solution is to get a sound bar or a home theater audio system to handle the audio. The Samsung sound bar sounds like a good bet, but here's where Samsung fails to provide an aesthetically pleasing solution. If the TV is not wall-mounted, the 4-footed stand prevents the sound bar from sitting right below the TV bezel. As much as the ToC decor is meant to help with the spouse factor, the sound bar addition will send one once again to the dog house. Samsung, Wake Up!!! If you can't make the sound bar look good with the TV, then you can at least try to provide decent stereo sound.A few other issues with this TV and probably all Samsung LCD TV's. The highly reflective display surface creates a very distracting reflection if there is a light source directly opposite the screen; this is especially a problem when the scene has low light intensity. This TV is in our bedroom and the nightstand lights have to be turned off in order to watch a movie at night. The remote control leaves a lot to be desired. Not only can it not control a Samsung DVD player, the ergonomics is far shy of other brands. Just try using the navigational and enter keys by feel without looking and you will get an exercise in frustration. Those keys are not sculpted to gives you any feel for which key you are pushing, and unlike other keys, they are not backlit, so when you are navigating the Samsung apps at night, you may have to turn on a light that you just turned off to avoid the screen glare problem. Samsung could learn a great deal by studying a Toshiba TV remote. One other problem I encountered was in setting up the WiFi connection. The same Samsung WiFi USB adapter on the Samsung Blu-ray DVD player connected to my wireless router without any problem. Yet the same adapter failed to connect to the router when it's moved over to the TV. This is all done with the Samsung WiFi adapter on a USB extension cable that allows the adapter to be placed in exactly the same spot regardless of which device it was wired to. It took some playing around, but it finally got down to the fact that my router has SSID broadcast disabled. The DVD player software has no trouble with not seeing a broadcasted SSID whereas the TV's software wouldn't initialize to it even when all the proper information was entered in the setup procedure. When I turned on SSID broadcast, the TV connected to the router right away and the signal strength was excellent. Once I had the TV connected to the router, I was able to disable SSID broadcast and the TV now connects to the router without a problem; so the bug seems to be only in the software for initial connection.Given all the deficiencies with this TV, as much as I liked the picture quality, I would not recommend this TV, especially at the price that has to be paid. There are TV's with equally good picture quality, much better sound, less glare and better remote control ergonomics.

Environmentally Friendly

Panasonic’s commitment to sustainability and producing products that are ecologically sound is evidenced in the 100,000 hour life span of the Plasma Display panel and the lack of lead or mercury in the panels. Thanks to a newly designed phosphor process and rear panel process, Panasonic's plasma panels last for up to 100,000 hours before the brightness decreases by half. That's more than 30 years of viewing 8 hours a day. Plus with Eco Mode, Panasonic TV's turn off and adjust brightness depending on the VIERA's operating status. Settings can be configured by selecting Eco mode from VIERA Tools. The Power Save setting also adjusts screen brightness to reduce power consumption. What's In the BoxPanasonic VIERA - 50" Class - Plasma - 1080p - 600Hz - Smart - 3D - HDTVPedestalMultifunction remote with 2 AA batteriesPower cordOwner's manual

5*IMPORTANT* SETUP INFO! PREVENT HEADACHES
By Nbot
Read Here! Important Setup Info to ensure you don't ruin the screen, picture calibration (default is for energy savings, not good pic), $19 Active 3D glasses, $30 wall mounts, removing ads & youtube settings.Hey all, if you are reading this, means you already want this plasma, or started off like I did, confident that you were looking for a new edge-lit LED tv, but after days of research shocked to see yourself purchasing a plasma! The better picture, for 1/2 the cost, with plasma-ish issues (heat, burn-in, etc) now mostly a thing of the past, makes you wonder why people are snapping up LED's (I got this for $699 at a local box shop, would've done Amazon at same price but didn't want to wait).Note: *3D GLASSES* You do NOT need to spend $50 each on glasses. Last year the major brands agreed on a universal active 3d standard via bluetooth. You can buy the new $19 Samsung SSG-4100GB glasses here on Amazon(Samsung SSG-4100GB 3D Active Glasses 2012 Models - Black), and they work great on this TV (I have 2 pairs). If you don't believe this, google "3D active glasses CNET" and find their article confirming this. I'm sure other active glasses will soon be available as well. CNET has a good article on the difference between Active & Passive pros & cons as well if you're still on the fence; IMO, the 3D on this TV with the $20 Samsung's is awesome.Anyways, you know the pros/cons already of this TV (if not, I put my PROS/CONS as a comment/reply below); this article is to save you 10 hours of reading on how to set it up and enjoy it. The following suggestions should apply to any UT50 or Panny Viera plasma (except the calibrations are only for the 50" I would assume).1. BREAK-IN PERIOD: Even though this is mostly a thing of the past with newer plamas, you'll see everyone with an opinion on this topic, yet its clear that plasmas are still *NOT* yet IDIOT PROOF (just use easy rules below & you'll be fine). You'll see the plasma gurus of years past insist that you need to run a video file of "slides" repeatedly for 100 hours minimum to evenly break-in the screen, or you'll end up with "IR" (image retention) & "burn in" images on your display. Even though newer plasma tech is now much more forgiving, for the first couple weeks (100 hours) you should *not* play the same video game (fixed icons/menu), or watch TV in a 4:3 format (that has black bars on the side) or wide-screen(black bars on top) or the same TV station (NBC with their logo on the bottom right). There's a pretty good chance you'll end up with something burned into the screen, and you won't be happy, and your dog or wife will hate you. You'll hate yourself. Google "Cnet Do I Need to Break In New Plasma" for a more informed article on this, but basically, stick to 16:9 video (fills the entire screen), if it doesn't, hit the "FORMAT" button on the remote to FILL the screen so you don't have black bars, and don't stick on channels with static logos (ESPN with the news ticker! NG with their logo, etc) for hours on end. ALSO, apparently a good idea to keep your CONTRAST settings below 100% for the first 100 hours or so (80 or below is the word, I'm a risk taker, think I'm at 85). Just watch full-screen content without stationary logos during the break-in period as much as possible, or don't stay stuck on any one channel/logo/ticker. Me, I just put a DVD/on-demand movie on repeatedly when I was doing other stuff around the house (find the longest movie you've got). If you are reading this after the fact & already hate yourself, go to Youtube and google "fix plasma" etc there are some videos that may be able to burn it out, or apparently Disney made some "WOW CD" that is a plasma staple, google it, lots of people useit, I can't comment on it not having used it.2. BREAK-IN PERIOD (2nd): There is a built in "Anti-Image Retention" scrolling bar (under Menu>>Setup>>Anti Image Retention). I run this after watching a movie or say at halftime & afterwards of watching an NFL game (just being paranoid probably, but its easy so why not). At least initially...if you go onto Youtube there is a 5 minute video clip called "Plasma HDTV Burn-In Clip" (starts with pink spirals). There's a link on that page you can download the video & put it on a USB stick and then tell your TV to run it in a loop overnight for a few nights (if you were motivated) as others suggest, I decided I'd just run the scrolling bars in between viewings, from what I've read the new plasma tech is forgiving enough as long as you don't push it too far.3. CALIBRATION: I would put this 1st, but figure its more important not to screw up the screen. The TV comes in an "Eco" friendly setting so they can get that $21/year energy cost sticker. This is a garbage picture. You'll end up spending $46/year or so according to CNET in reality once you adjust the TV for a good picture (and I'm assuming your getting the plasma for a good picture, not to save $25/year on electricity). You can google "CNET TC-P50UT50 CALIBRATION" and find their suggested calibration settings, or if you really want to get into it, google "AVSFORUM TC-P50UT50 CALIBRATION" and there's a 20 page thread titled "The Official Panasonic UT50 Settings/Issues Thread", and the 2 main contributors (PathofNeo & anikun07) suggest similar but slightly different settings than CNET. If you jump to Page 9 (post 250) of that thread, you'll find anikun07's settings for both CINEMA mode and also 3D MODE. If you want to know "why" these settings are best (including why you should use CINEMA mode, not CUSTOM mode for better blacks), read the first 9 pages. I'll cheat & post anikun07's current settings below for you, but if he changes them in the future I wouldn't know, you'd have to check the thread. I didn't bother getting into the custom RGB color settings, just the main easy-access settings.4. REMOVE ADVERTISEMENTS / DISABLE ADS (seen on startup & in the Internet menu): For the ads displayed on startup, go to MENU>>SETUP>>ADVANCED SETTINGS>>VIERA CONNECT BANNER (and set to OFF). For the ads displayed as one of the apps, just unselect that app from being displayed in the app/store settings (uncheck it). If you are confused how to move an app from the 1st screen to the 3rd, there's a FAQ on Panasonic's site for this TV that explains the steps in detail.5. YOUTUBE: The app allows you to link your phone or tablet to your TV (so you don't have to painfully type in search terms using that remote from the 90's). It gives you a PIN to enter into your device, then whatever you type into the device & hit play, ends up playing on your TV, pretty neat.6. VIDEO SETTINGS FOR 3D, NORMAL TV & INTERNET APPS (NETFLIX ETC) ARE ALL SEPARATE: These are all controlled separately, so once you find the right settings for your cinema mode, you have to play a 3D movie, then open up the picture menu again and make the settings per below, and same for Internet Apps, go into youtube or netflix & edit the picture settings there as well (I used same settings for both TV & internet apps). I guess each input has its own setting, so HDMI1 & HDMI2 you have to make the different picture settings (see comments below page 3)7. MOTION SMOOTHER (Soap Opera Effect): Everyone will tell you the first thing you need to do is disable the digital manipulation of the video, turn off the "Motion Smoother" (see full settings below). Basically, you'll turn off all digital manipulation, as they (according to the experts) just bog down the picture quality. This is confusing to me; why would *all* of the TV manufacturers spend money adding digital manipulations of the picture that no experts want? Perhaps the features fluff up some settings/images, while ruining others, I don't know enough to speculate, however even on LED's everyone says to turn off these digital "enhancements" as well.8. WALL MOUNTS: You do *not* need to spend $100-200 for a wall mount! Only $28! Check out "Cheetah Mounts APTMM2B Flush Tilt Dual Hook (1.3" from wall) Flat Screen TV Wall Mount Bracket for 32-65 inch Plasma, LED, and LCD TVs Up To VESA 700x400 and 165lbs, Including 10' Braided High Speed with Ethernet HDMI Cable and 3-Axis Magnetic Bubble Level" here on Amazon, $27.99 (Prime) and its 1.5" from the wall & includes tilt (my old mount had swivel but I never used it). Holds up to 165lbs, nearly 5 stars from 2,000+ reviews, nice (remember to drill into a stud!). Also, if you tilt the TV downwards a smidgen, then the overhead room light doesn't reflect on the screen when you are sitting down, if glare's an issue at night, cheap fix.1/21/13 Updates:9. Android App: There is a Viera droid app in the Play store (can't comment on Apple IOS), works on tablets & phones. However, as of 1/21/13 its pretty annoying that you can't use the app to "type" into the search bars on Netflix or Hulu (why else would I use the app over the remote?). Youtube's sync let's you type in the search bar, hopefully they fix this bug. I note that there are bluetooth mini-keyboards that you can buy for ~$40, I haven't looked into this yet though. For now I'll probably make due with the clunky non-qwerty remote.10. I really wish the remote could be programmed to control my cable box as well; I'm not sure I want to spend $100 for a Harmony remote, and I'm not sure if a Harmony remote would handle all the custom internet functions anyways (navigating the Viera Netflix & Hulu apps etc), looks like I might be stuck with a few remotes for now at least; the Android app & non-programmable remote are really my only (minor) complaints on this TV, which is still a 5-star bargain at the price I got it at though.1/23/13 Update:11. Wireless Dongle: if you don't have an ethernet cable nearby, instead of buying the Panny wireless adapter Panasonic TY-WL20U Wireless Adapter for Panasonic 2012 Internet Ready TVs, something to consider instead would be one of these "Powerline" adapters that are slightly less in cost, but something you could use for other purposes later on, and/or be able to add other adapters to your house for other internet devices (I did a very QUICK search, these ZyXEL adapters seemed the best bang for the buck (Logitech's HD Powerline 200a is $105), there could be a better brand/price you'd have to check but these are $43 on Prime currentlyZyXEL PLA401v3 HomePlug AV 200 Mbps Powerline Wall-plug Adapter (Starter Kit - 2 units):Here are Anikun07's 2D & 3D calibration settings from the AVSforum thread I mentioned above (apparently these settings target a neutral D65 coloring, you may find you like TV's with unnatural heavy red hues, to each their own?):***2D CINEMA MODE*** (not custom, not vivid, not standard)______________Contrast: +90Brightness: +49Color: +48Tint: 0Sharpness: 0Color Temp: Warm 2Color Mgmt.: OffC.A.T.S.: OffVideo NR: Off______________Aspect AdjustmentsScreen Format: FullHD Size: Size 2H Size: Size 1______________HDMI Settings (*edit, CNET says the following, which is what I did as well: -- HDMI settings: [no change from default]. 5Awesome TV for the $$$
By btuck
I have had this TV for about a couple weeks now and so far it has been amazing! The plasma picture quality is FAR better than LED or LCD in this price range; the only problem is the screen glare in bright rooms (you will see refections if you are viewing during the day if the curtains are not closed). In my opinion the picture quality is well worth the trouble of getting off the couch and closing the curtains.I read previous reviews of the screen being dim. For one thing, the worst thing you can do while shopping for TV is to look at multiple display TVs. The reason behind this being, most TVs that are on display are in something tech geeks call 'Torch Mode' (basically the brightest and prettiest TV gets the most attention). This is deceptive because when you view the TV in your home you will not have another TV in the room to compare the picture to. But if the picture on this TV is not bright enough for you, go to settings and simply change the picture mode to 'Vivid' or 'Custom'.One more thing you MUST do to get the best picture out of this TV is: go to advance settings and find 'Motion Smoother'. When you've found it, turn it OFF! This feature makes the picture look fast and as if it were filmed by a cheap camera. To get the full cinema experience it is imperative to turn this OFF.Overall, this TV is the flagship in its class for picture quality and is an extremely good deal.

4Very nice, for my first HD/Plasma, but....
By NscaleMike
Purchased this in May of 2012, after reading numerous reviews, mostly here on Amazon from fellow consumers and a few from CNet.com . It's been a really nice TV...best one I've ever owned, wonderful colors and sharp images. Watching Blu-ray movies has been a real treat, using a Sony PS-3. The built in sound from the TV is perfect for the size of our living room. I will probably upgrade at some point to a better sound system such as a soundbar or similar. We use the preloaded Netflix all the time, great feature. I still don't know why Panasonic did not build in a wireless(WiFi) feature to this TV...most other brands like LG do....I had to purchase one separately from an online retailer in NY, they were extremely fast and cheap too. The "White Glove service" provided that delivered the TV was great...they'd call the day before the scheduled delivery date. They set it up and removed all the packing material. Now the "but"....After almost of 5 months of watching...roughly 6-8hrs a day, Sunday night during the fourth quarter of the Packers Saints game the TV stopped working....The red LED in the front of the TV started to blink...so I unplugged the TV...waited a few mins...plugged it back in...Nothing but more blinking....in this case it blinks 8 times, pauses, then blinks 8 times, pauses..etc etc...Looked this up online..and apparently this is a problem that has occurred before...other have noted such online. Panasonic was closed on Sunday...I did purchase an extended warranty through Canopy, but they said to contact Panasonic first. I did Monday the 1st of October...they seemed helpful and understanding...but It won't be until Friday the 5th before someone locally here in Vegas could fix it.S I G H...I will update as necessary...***Update....Ok the TV went out on Sunday night the 30th of September. Monday the 1st, 6 a.m., I contacted Panasonic customer service, I spoke with a Technician, who gave me a case# and arranged to have a local (Las Vegas)TV repair place come out and fix it on Friday the 5th. I called the repair place on Thursday to confirm they were coming out as scheduled, they said they weren't, because on the 1st, Monday, after I called Panasonic, they notified the local repair shop of the repair order, but the needed part was on a "3 week" back-order!! My blood pressure started to get a bit higher at this point. I called Panasonic right away, trying to find out why wasn't I notified of this delay. I got the usual "We're sorry"..."I apologize" etc etc...Inserted within the owners manual for the TV is a welcome letter, welcoming the new customer to the "VIERA Concierge" program. It's for owners of 46" and larger flat panel tv's...."As a Panasonic flat panel TV owner you are now entitled to a variety of free privileges that will make owning our new television even more of a pleasure. It's our way to give you the experience and peace of mind you expect from Panasonic. Panasonic VIERA Concierge adds value to your premium TV experience with services like: Expert Toll-Free Hotline and live web chat support from Panasonic's Nationally recognized customer support center. In-home priority service scheduling and follow-up if your television needs to be serviced (Usually fixed in about two days). COMPLIMENTARY LOANER TVs AVAILABLE FOR IN-WARRANTY REPAIRS BY CONTACTING PANASONIC"That last line I put in caps to emphasize my frustrations with these folks. So after several calls....so I could get a clear answer on when my tv will be repaired I started asking for a complimentary TV, since my TV was apparently going to be out of service for at least 3 weeks more....they told me to contact my local tv repair office for one, I said why? They said they will provide one...I called the repair shop, they started to laugh a bit...and said they only repair tv's and don't provide loaners. Called back Panasonic, they stated they didn't have any TV's to loan...I re-read them , word for word the VIERA Concierge program...I expressed to them my extreme dissatisfaction with their department. Once again...I heard how apologetic they were. I told them, I didn't want any more apologies... I just needed to speak to someone here in the USA, who can actually make a decision and either get my TV fixed or a loaner ASAP!....After being on hold for another 10 mins...they finally give me a number to an office in New Jersey. (201) 348-7755...I was able to speak with a "Bill" in their Executive Department. He seemed sincerely concerned about my case. Upgraded it to a Field Service Technician level, and said Panasonic really tries to fix their TV's within the time frame stated in the Concierge letter. They don't always have loaners available, but would have one sent to me by early next week, if the replacement part didn't come in first. I told him, the Customer service center should have got the ball rolling once they discovered the replacement part was on a 3 week back order, they should have called me, gave me an update, got the process in motion to get me a loaner. I contacted my the local repair shop, on Friday the 5th...the manager there said..."I don't know what you said or who you spoke to...but they're overnighting the replacement part". Monday was a holiday, So they came out Tuesday promptly, installed a new "SS Board" as well as replaced several screws with upgraded ones for their boards. The new screws appeared almost identical, but the washers are spring loaded, compared to the factory installed ones. The TV works just great now....It's a shame my blood pressure had to boil a bit...and I had to make so many calls to their CS department and finally a corporate office here in the US. The part was a re-manufactured board, that they used to replace the one I had.

3While operational, it was great!
By Zornaphile
I found the feature set of this hdtv just the ticket for what I was looking for. I was looking for a thin bodied hdtv for bluray and hi-def sports viewing, basically a no frills, quality hdtv viewing experience. With 2 hdmi ports, a usb port, ybr connections, and a coaxial input, I give a thumbs up to connectivity (some might need more hdmi inputs, but I'm happy with two). The picture quality is fantastic, very nice deep blacks, and no image flicker to speak of. The 600hz refresh rate produces a beautiful, full and detailed image.I found the tv user interface to be straight forward, easy to learn, and easy to use. The menu is very soft on the eyes, and is no ways invasive or annoying.Even the tv volume indicator is well thought out; the readout bar appears vertically on the left side of the screen (which does not block subtitles or sports programming with bottom scrolling tickers) and displays just long enough to view the output yet disappears quickly as to not disturb program viewing. As for the negatives, there where only two to speak of...The first being an auto volume leveling feature which reduces those high volume commercials as compared to main programming. This was a feature I was very glad to see included in this set, yet ultimately was disappointing because I could not tell the difference when this feature was turned on or off.The second negative is a doozy though. Unfortunately, my set died after 6 days of use. The set shut itself off, and would not come back to life.Hopefully, this is just a lemon that fizzed out, and not a reflection of the quality of the product. If this hdtv worked without incident for 5 years, I would give it a five star review. But for now, as it stands, I am skeptical that the replacement of this unit will live through it's one year warranty. I hope I am wrong.

5Nice tv so far....
By Jeeves
Changing my review to 5 stars... This thing is used easily 14 hours a day with our family profile. It looks as great as the day i bought it 5 months ago...Update: It's now been over a month, and I am still happy. Picture is great, brightness and contrast are excellent! Internal speakers are weak, but I have a surround system anyway. Still loving this thing for the price...We bought this TV 2 weeks ago and so far so good... I bought the extended warranty just in case. For picture quality all I can say is WOW!!!! Gorgeous!!! A bit limited on input ports but has enough for me. It does give off a bit of heat, but all plasmas seem to do that. My last Samsung DLP lasted 5 years before the bulb went out. Trusting for similar reliability here. The screen is high gloss so some glare problems can exist, depends on your room, and light and window placement...

3Misleading Specs but Great Picture
By Five Digits
The technical specifications listed on the Samsung website for this TV are completely misleading and incorrect. The website claims there are (2) USB ports in reality there is only (1). Website claims that there are (2) component video inputs in reality there is only (1). Website claims there is a PC input and audio mini jack input in reality there is none. I contacted Samsung directly to address the issue. They reviewed a picture of the back of this TV & also looked at their website and agreed. They had no explanation for the misleading specs and would not commit to making any changes to the website. That being said, the picture quality is great, the best I've seen. So if you don't care about misleading manufacturer specs and only need a few inputs, buy this TV. Otherwise I would invest my money elsewhere.

5Cannot beat the price/performance for a 3D experience
By M. Murphy
Over the years, I've done reviews and have studied prior to purchasing. I did no different on this LG 60PZ550. I looked at nearly all brands of PLASMA TVs and finally fell into the LG realm. My first thought was to get the biggest/best, then I started looking at the actual numbers. What was my criteria?1) Screen Size: 60" ... but, it had to be no more than 34" in height.2) 3D: this isn't really my criteria, I inherited it from my kids.3) Thickness: I don't want a very thick or heavy TV4) Plasma: Sorry, I've owned and viewed LED/LCDs v. Plasma - for sheer 1080p experience, my perception is that Plasma always looks better. So, going through the brands, I found only LG to fit my criteria. The most important was #1, if it doesn't fit where I need it to fit, all the bells/whistles won't matter. I could give a hoot about 3D, but my kids insisted for their experience. We went to the big box stores and I will admit, it does look cool. I do not have the glasses yet, they are on their way (As the first reviewer mentioned, the 250's are for this TV). Thickness, holy smokes, who wants those behemoths we had a few years ago. This is thin and fairly lightweight. Beautifully done. OK, then finally, the Plasma v. LED/LCD debate. It will go on/on/on.. it's a matter of perception. Technically, the Plasmas have the edge; however, LED/LCDs are catching up. My personal perception is that Plasmas look MUCH better than LED/LCD. Your mileage may vary.If you do the great comparison that Amazon has towards the bottom of the product page, you'll see this TV is stacked up against the big 2 - PZ950 and PZ750 - whats missing from the 550? THX (yea right); TruBlack Filter (err, not sure what that is); SmartTV (more apps on the TV I'll never use because my 3D Bluray player has them); Magic Motion Remote (great, another remote that I have to point "just right" to do the menus ... plus, I already have a remote that turns it on and off) ... hmm ... not really seeing why I would pay a premium for those features. All else is equal. So, yes, would I recommend? **ABSOLUTELY** What don't I like about it? Nothing, I love it; however, something that might irritate people is the very reflective surface. It's like a mirror; however, properly positioned (I have a tilt mount), it eliminates my the irritant factor. I've had it with lights on and off and it's beautiful. Really, I am not using this TV to it's true potential with all the stuff on it. I don't use sound (it's connected to an HDMI receiver), I don't tune with it (U-Verse customer), I have 2 cables going to it: power and HDMI (high speed recommended ... or ... incorrectly labeled HDMI 1.4a). I don't even use the internet portion. I use it as a HUGE monitor for all the stuff I do (U-Verse, Wii, PS3, Bluray) ... and now 3D.UPDATE 13APR2011 - This TV most certainly has ARC (Audio Return Channel). "Definition: Audio Return Channel (ARC) ia a very practical feature that has been introduced in HDMI ver1.4. What this function allows, if both a home theater receiver and a TV have HDMI ver1.4 and offer this feature, is that you can transfer audio from the TV back to a home theater receiver and listen to your TV's audio through your home theater audio system instead of the TV's speakers without having to connect a second cable between the TV and home theater system."The 60PZ550 is certainly doing this function through my receiver. I made the assumption that since I did not connect my internet to it, I wouldn't need it. I connected my TV to the internet today to see what the functions were ... typical ... Netflix, Hula, Youtube... etc. I fired up a Netflix movie (which looked pretty decent) and low and behold, I have BEAUTIFUL sound coming out of my receiver. Please DISREGARD the reviewer who stated there was NO ARC.

5Incredible Picture!!
By Daniel R. Spinas
I just purchased this TV locally to replace my Sony KDL-46Z4100 LCD TV in the master bedroom. I felt the picture on my Sony was too dark...especially for playing video games on the PS3 and/or Xbox 360. I researched via google and read that a plasma TV is better for a darker environment. After hooking up the TV to the wall mount and turning it on, I was shocked at remarkable picture improvement between the plasma and my previous LCD. I feel this TV is WELL worth the money, considering it came with 2 free pair of AGS250 (current 2011 model) 3D glasses. A couple of notes: make sure you turn the contrast down to 60 or less, since the factory settings have it at 100. If you leave it at the default setting, you'll have a problem with burn-in. I have mine set at 60/65 (contrast/brightness). You'll notice burn-in either way if you watch a lot of sporting events as I do (IE - any programming that has a non-moving bar along the bottom...like the current score of a game), but it's easy to get rid off by either tuning in a channel with white noise or using the TV's built-in ISM (Image Sticking Minimization) "white wash" feature to eliminate it. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase....GREAT VALUE!

1LG's Pixel Policy -- Buyers Beware!
By Robert Hamilton
On the surface, for the price this is a good plasma set with 3D capabilities. The picture *is* generally good. The problem is with the quality of the panel itself. I've had 2 of these, and within 20 hours of use both units had pixels start to die. The pixels weren't dead out of the box, things were fine for the first few days, then they just started to die off on both units. And these big televisions are a colossal hassle to repack and return, and that's if dead pixels are even covered at all (LG doesn't cover them). You get what you pay for, I suppose. Next time I'm waiting an extra 6 months for a higher end model with better panel components. $800+ down the drain.EDIT: An LG technician came out to my residence to diagnose the problem, and apparently having *6* dead pixels and 3 spots of residual dirt *underneath* the screen is "a completely normal part of the manufacturing process and should not affect my enjoyment of the set." I will never be purchasing another product from LG. Frankly they make me sick.EDIT 2: It's now been another month, and I now have a white stuck pixel in addition to the aforementioned defects. LG still won't cover it. What a disgrace. Ugh.
