4Best In It's Class
By GGobblin
Bought this from Amazon about a month ago. Did A LOT of online and in store research looking for a 32"-40" LED TV.Looked at Vizio, Samsung, Sony, LG in addition to Panasonic. After a month - I'm very satisfied with my selection. If you have read the reviews on this model here on Amazon you will see overall very good comments.Have seen some silly complaints about short power cord, and have seen some about the wifi adapter(I'm using ethernet cable). And some average comments on the sound, but the major points of the TV are Great. There is one reviewer (C Reach) who claims to have gotten video settings online - THIS IS TOTAL BS. I HAVE SEARCHED AND SEARCHED - Does Not Exist.Below you will find a Pros and Cons list and my picture and sound settings. My settings were done using my eyes and ears no calibration equipment.Everyone's taste and environment are different, so these are what look good on mine. I will eventually test further with my calibration discs, but for those looking foe a good starting point from which to fine tune - this should help.PROS:Non Gloss screen reduces glareAmazing viewing anglesGood overall contrast and color qualityLow power consumptionSmart (Flat) input layout on backGood assortment of connections* (*Component video needs to use the included adapter - no biggie)Price / Performance Ratio is BEST in ClassDNLA and Internet FeaturesBuild QualityNo Spotlighting from corners like the Samsung sets (That was a dealbreaker for me)Easy SetupCONS:Sound could be better - Sure, but is equal to or better than most in this classCould have more extensive picture adjustment settings, but has enough to obtain a quality picture.Remote should be Illuminated and have a dedicated Sleep button. (Many people will use this for a bedroom TV)Some complained about power cord being short - But I had no problem with this at all. (It is detachable)OVERALL I Give it a 8.8 out of 10.MY SETTINGS:Were set by eye averaging several different chanels and subject matter in a room with no light other than the TV.You will probably want to fine tune based on taste and environment. Keep in mind this was done without calibration software, but I'm in the industry and have color experience. 4*Not* WiFi-Ready--yet
By FaceForRadio
This TV provides an excellent picture, with a very wide viewing angle (for an LCD). However...On page 63 of the manual, it says "The TV's internal software was designed to work with Panasonic's wireless adapter model DY-WL10." After trying three non-Panasonic wireless adapters just to see if they would work (they wouldn't), I purchased the Panasonic adapter, but, as the other reviewer discovered, the TV would not recognize the DY-WL10. Panasonic's Netconnect site covers only 2011 television models--nothing about 2012 models. When I called Panasonic Support today, I was told that, no, the DY-WL10 isn't compatible with any of the 2012 Panasonic models. The model that the support rep recommended is the DY-WL5, which isn't available yet; I can't find it on Amazon, or even on Panasonic's own site. B&H Photo lists it for pre-order with a March 31st availability date. So, at least until that date, this TV cannot use a wireless connection.Backup plan: I used a powerline ethernet adapter to connect the TV to my router. The TV recognized it easily, and it works fine in my house. But, as with all powerline products, your house's wiring must be pretty good for it to work well enough for video transfer.[Edit 03/08/2012] As a commenter pointed out, the appropriate wireless adapter for this TV (and I assume all 2012 Panasonic WiFi-ready models) is the DY-WL20, not the DY-WL5. Of course, I can't find that model for sale either as of this moment.

5Exceeded expectations.
By C. Reach
Really great tv. Perfect size for my office/studio. Picture quality is excellent. I calibrated the tv using settings I found with a quick google search. Sound is ok, but as with most flat screens it lacks a really impressive on board audio set up. Xbox 360 games look incredible. I've been playing Skyrim and Battlefield 3 and am blown away by the picture. I fired up amazon prime (through Viera Cast) and watched Troll Hunter in HD. Again, beautiful picture (and awesome low budget Norweigian movie). And now a more niche consideration. I am an illustrator by trade and use a Wacom tablet and photoshop in my day to day work. I purchased this tv with the intention of utilizing it as a third, large scale monitor for certain projects. A big reason I went for this particular tv is the LED screen. I find it is much easier on my eyes when I am painting on screen for hours on end.So there you have it. Beautiful image quality, a decent service lineup (Netflix, Prime, etc.), customization, great aesthetics, light weight, and it won't make your eyes bleed when you are painting an event poster at 2 in the morning. And yes, it says wi-fi ready but it needs an adapter. Otherwise it would say built in wi-fi. so the option is either buy a tv with built in (an extra $200-$2000) or buy an adapter ($60.. I agree it's a rip off. I ran a wire.). Same reason the E3 model had only 4 stars, from what I read in the reviews. So if you can get past that, this is a really excellent buy.

4nice but a few minor complaints
By M. Melkonian
Very nice picture, not quite as bright as plasmas but watch mostly at night anyway, also viewing angle needs work compared to plasmas, you can see the difference at most big box stores, just look down the isle at an angle and you'll see the plasmas really have a better angle. But overall for a 61in TV very nice, The TV Guide function is cool now if Time warner would just give me a cable card I'd be setJust found out about a minor glitch, this TV is not quite ready for primetime HDMI, the HDMI input does NOT support pure digital audio (only PCM) the end result if you have a new dvd player that has HDMI out going into TV then out to AV receiver via optical out, only PCM (standard Dolby) will be output not Digital Dolby. Now I know lots of people just run the audio direct from the dvd to AV Reciever anyway but this defeats my purpose of trying out the Samsung DVD950 so I can simplify life and use the Anynet function to switch to a DVD. Bottom line the ANynet function leaves much to be desired and they probably should of just given you a programable remote with macros instead. So if you have this tv don't waste money on a fancy DVD player with HDMI outputs, you can't tell the difference between component anyway :)

4Beautiful picture...great price.
By M. Simon
We just got this TV delivered on Feb. 4, and we are in love with the picture. Previous raters have said its "not as bright" as others in the same category; on the contrary, I find the picture quite bright. Also, I don't know what the one guy meant with the warranty not being good when purchased from Amazon. I registered my TV with Samsung and there was no trouble. The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars has to do with Amazon's "white glove" delivery, rather than the TV itself. For $199, you're supposed to get "knowledgeable" delivery professionals to unpack it, hook it up, and set it up. Amazon tells you that you have to "sign off" on the delivery saying it is in perfect condition and then you cannot return it. The guys knew *nothing* about how to set it up (other than the electrical plug), so you pretty much have to decide whether or not it's perfect without seeing the picture. This is a pretty involved hook-up when you're connecting an HD cable box (with the three video cables) and the directions do not have examples of all scenarios. The delivery men were rather rude about my wanting to see the picture before signing off on the product. In short, the time for delivery was great, it appears to have arrived in great condition, but for $199, I expected to have delivery men who knew how to hook it up. Since then, I noticed that the link for more information on the delivery service is no longer working. You might want to download the manual and get an idea for the set-up before it is delivered, because you won't get help with the "white glove" service.

5Good tv, works well, minor engineering flaws.
By Randretti
Pros: Large, clear picture. Watching the tv show "Lost", the picture is absolutely stellar. Vivid, crisp images. There have been other HD programs that are not as impressive. I'm assuming they were in 480p vs 720p, but that's an assumption for the difference in picture clarity in HD programming. Xbox gaming has worked flawlessly, with no lag. There have been no problems with color wheel buzzing (as was reported on the hlp series), and I'm not a person who sees rainbows, thus, I haven't seen them on this tv either. The tv guide onscreen has been incredibly easy to use. It was functioning correctly the 2nd day.CONS: The engineering for particular screens is awkward. To use the PIP, you can hit 1 button on the remote to bring up a pre-programmed channel, but all you can do is turn it on or off. To surf, or change the pip channel, you must go through the menu and go through several screens, and then you can only select an analog channel. Also, the remote that comes with the tv does not allow you to surf a day at a time on the tv guide onscreen. I can only go hour by hour. You can use the search feature which works well, but I feel I should be able to hit a button or select a time to search for programming and I need another remote to do it. (The remote that would include cd/dvd controls for fast forward).SUMMARY: Those are my only 2 complaints and since they are engineering issues I have to recommend the tv. I'm happy with it and will keep it for years if it keeps working as well as it is. I've had the tv for about 2 weeks.

4Good small TV/Monitor
By Tag
I've owned my Sharp LC19SK24U for almost 2 years and used it primarily for a PC monitor at first and now it is a 2nd TV. I bought it on sale for about $230 in Nov 2007, which was about the same price as a stand-alone PC monitor at the time. As a PC monitor, it has an acceptable picture... nothing great. What I love is being able to switch to the TV with a simple button click on the main remote. (There are 2 remotes.) This saved me from buying a TV tuner for my PC. All you have to do is attach a video cable to it and you're all set. The TV picture is adequate, but not exceptional. Obviously, you can't be too far away from a 19-inch screen to see, but if you do watch from across a room, the tiny speakers must be turned up to max, which isn't very loud at all. There is some distortion at higher levels, which is expected from a small TV. However, if you want better sound, hook auxiliary speakers to the rear jacks. There is a nice feature that automatically adjusts the brightness according to the ambient light in the room, which is handy at night. There are 2 remotes. One full-featured one and a small basic one that magnetically attaches to the base, (or your refrigerator for that matter if you use it in the kitchen.) The basic remote has a built-in LCD clock & timer, on/off, volume and channel up/down. There are two sets of input RCAs on the back, S-video, HDMI, an analog PC jack, and a small ?mm headphone jack.Overall, it's a good small TV.

5The very best HD 1080p LED TV Picture available at any price!
By R. Goldhammer
I just purchased this TV here on AMAZON a few days ago for $859.00 with free super saver shippingwithout using the Amazon Prime 2 day shipping.(I never subscribed to it)This TV was purchased Monday 6pm and it arrived Wednesday morning before noon VIA UPS.(Wow)As far as the picture quality of this TV set it cannot be beat regardless of the price.I have been shopping for a 46 inch LED TV for about a month at local retail stores onlyto find that basically the main or only differences between this TV and that of thehigher priced makes and models of other 46 inch TV's has very little or nothing to dowith the overall actual picture quality but has a lot more to do with the amount ofadditional features and options these smart tv's have and are available on the higherpriced makes and models of the same size. The picture quality on this HD TV is so life like and so sharp and clear that I canclearly see even the smallest details like a person's eyelashes, eyebrows and eventhe eyeballs. The internal audio output quality using the built-in speakers is what I would call average,so if you are the type of person who wants theater quality audio you will need touse an external audio amplifier and external speakers. All the internet features and options work excellent and really look professionaljust like you would see on your home computer'a monitor. The only drawback with the internet is that you will need to find a compatiblewireless USB keyboard to use unless the remote's up/down/left/right buttons aregood enough for you while surfing the web.The built-in Wi-Fi is so super easy to setup that it's almost automatic. This TV has so many settings and adjustments for the picture that even if you arevery particular and a perfectionist you will have more than enough controls to getthe exact picture you want. The "picture & picture" feature is really excellent, to use it you will need a secondaryvideo source like the RF 75 ohm output of your cable box or a TV antenna so that boththe TV's built-in tuner and the cable box's tuner are both connected to the TV.Even without an HD cable or satellite box this TV has fantastic digital picture qualityand it receives many OTA (over the air) HD channels using an antenna, cable box or Tivo. The only fault I see in this TV set is when I connect an external USB hard drive or aUSB flash-drive which contains lots of videos and or movies. The TV plays basically all the video formats like DIVX/AVI/MPG and all other formatsreally well but the user interface when using this feature leaves a lot to be desired. It is an all black screen with tiny file and folder icons which have no graphics or textso you cannot see the titles/names of the movies or videos contained on the USB harddrive or the USB Flash drive. It looks like the media player feature in this TV is something which is not fullyfinished yet but something which needs to be worked on and finished by Sony with afirmware or software upgrade.Perhaps one of these days Sony will have a newer firmware or software version soafter upgrading the built-in media player it will have all the missing/lacking features.I have a Western Digital USB TV Live media player which I use for my movies and it worksand looks excellent and it has all the missing features which this TV's built-in mediaplayer is is lacking.Another good choice for an external usb media player is the Sony SMP-N100 media player. The remote control which comes with this TV is really excellent unless you haveadditional components attached to the TV set. If so, you will need to buy an allin one type remote. (preferably a Logitech Harmony One). All in all I gave this TV 5 Stars due to it's truly amazing picture quality and allthe excellent features and options it has.

5Easy set up very clear picture in HD
By M. Wall
Not sure why anyone wouldn't give this a 5 star rating. So easy to use and set up, crystal clear picture if you are watching anything HD. This isn't even for sale yet here on Amazon but I bought this at a local dealer yesterday and it is perfect. Apps work great. We have amazon prime and i am watching a movie as I type. We got the 50in and could not be happier.I shopped for a long time and here is why I got the Sony.#1 It supports amazon instant video. (Many brands do not even if they are wi-fi enabled.)#2 The Sales man said Sony has the best picture Quality (Samsung is 2nd but they don't support Amazon video service.) From the show room Sony looked the best.#3 Size 50 inch is perfect not too big or small.#4 1080p 240hz. The higher these #s the better the picture.#5 simple, no 3-d or extras we would never use. Keeping the price affordable.

4Great Picture and Features, No TV Channel Guide
By The Simple Geek
Introduction: We've had a Sony Trinitron SDTV for many years, using a HDTV tuner converter box since the switch to HD broadcasting. I have been waiting for an LED-backlit TV with at least a true 120Hz refresh rate to come down to a decent price. On this past Black Friday weekend I tried the Samsung UN46ES6100 and this Sony KDL46EX645, which were both priced at $799. Below are my thoughts on these two TVs.Picture Quality: After having the Samsung TV and trying to tweak the picture settings to make it look just right, then still not being satisfied by the clarity, when I connected the Sony TV I was impressed at first sight. The sharpness of the Sony is much better, and the color balancing doesn't take much if any tweaking at all to make scenes look good. The Samsung had several white blotches in the middle are of the screen, which could've just been a defect in the model I got. (Best Buy sold it to me as "new" but it was obviously an "open box" item.) The Sony has some light "ghosting" in the corners, which is not a defect but is just the way it is for this edge-lit LED TV. This is somewhat distracting in dark scenes, but can be minimized by adjusting the backlight level.Motion Flow: I tested several fast-moving movie scenes on my Sony BDP-S390 on both TVs without any "motion flow" enabled. The Sony was much smoother on these scenes and decoded the scenes with less pixelation. With "motion flow" enabled, I found that the Samsung was not very good at "guessing" the fill frames, making the scenes much worse. On the Sony, the "guessing" was better but I don't like the "soap opera" feel that it creates so I leave it off except for sporting events. The Sony TV has a separate "CineMotion" option for movies, I have left that on although I haven't been able to tell a difference with it on or off.Smart TV: Sony's PlayStation experience has helped them in this area I think. The Sony Entertainment Network is quick and easy to navigate with a well-designed layout, and the TV is responsive and not bogged down when accessing it (although there is a short delay immediately after turning on the TV before you can access it). The Samsung equivalent was clunky and not designed well at all. The Sony TV also has "Internet Apps" powered by Yahoo that provides quick access to widgets like weather, stocks, and sports scores which I find very convenient. There is a decent Samsung equivalent for this, but you have to go through their Smart Hub to access it which interrupts TV viewing. On the Sony it is just one button away and shows up along the button of the screen.Menus and Remote Control: This is another area in which Sony showed their professional side and superior design. On the Samsung, the menu system was childish and basic. On the Sony it is clean-cut, extensive and easy to navigate. The remote is easy enough to use, and with the Bravia Sync menu we can control the Sony BD player using the TV remote. The TV sends the controls through the HDMI cable. Switching back to TV control does require pressing a few buttons, and accessing some of the deeper BD player controls requires accessing a menu system, but it is convenient to have control on one remote.TV Guide: We pickup OTA TV channels so we don't have a TV guide on a cable box. On the Samsung there was a very nice TV guide that showed us upcoming show schedules. The Sony doesn't have this feature, which is disappointing but not a deal breaker. Conclusion: The Sony has a better picture engine and the "smart TV" features are better. The overall impression I got when comparing the two models is that the Sony was made by professionals and the Samsung was made by amateurs. We've always owned Sony equipment so maybe I am just biased, or maybe they just make really good equipment. I realize that there are various price-levels and technologies for TVs, and the more expensive plasma TVs have the best picture quality. This 46" EX645 was worth the wait for us to buy an LED HDTV.Star Rating: I think this is a great TV overall. I'm giving it 4 stars, taking off a star for the light "ghosting" in the corners and the lack of the TV guide. I think Sony could've easy included the TV guide, which even our old converter box had, but didn't for some reason.P.S. Sony makes great TVs and home entertainment equipment, Apple makes great computers and smartphones. Canon make great DSLR cameras. Samsung makes all these things and more, but in my experience none of them are that great.
