4Great TV but don't pay over $600.00
By ktk3438
I say don;t pay over $600.00 because right now, 7-19-07 you can find this set ranging between $569-$799, and surfing can save you a lot of $$ for a BRAND NEW, not Refurb set like this. It paid for me to surf and found it at Sears for $30.00 cheaper than Circuit City, and I could pick it up so I saved shipping.Vizio VX32L 32" Widescreen LCD HDTV with HDMI/ATSCI began my search for a larger LCD with HD that was not going to send me to the poor house.. I came across the Vizio VX32L and read the opinion/reviews from owners, and found that a lot of people seemed pretty satisfied with it, although, they paid a lot more because they bought when LCD's were much more expensive, so I figured if they were happy with it for the price they paid, then I should be OK with paying only $569.00.I picked it up and could not wait to get home to hang it on the wall and get the DVR & DVD player hooked to put it to the test.First thing I noticed is that I was not truly satisfied with the way the picture looked at first. So I went in & tweaked the settings to my liking. I found that to be odd, since most TV's come from the factory and the default settings are usually satisfactory, and only need minor adjustments. This one needed to be tweaked more than any other TV I've owned. However after going through the manual and learning what all the little settings were (most new to me), when I was done I was pretty satisfied. Now at first, I was using Standard Definition, which on most HDTV's doesn't always look like what people are used to seeing. So I used a nice DVD using progressive scan with Component Hook-ups. Now that brought out more of what this TV can deliver, and actually made me happy with my purchase right then & there. The next test was to go to HD, so I used my HD-DVR, and hooked up the HDMI cable. All I can say is, WOW! The sharp crisp crystal clarity REALLY stood out now. This was the ultimate test to see what this thing was truly capable of, and I knew that I made a smart choice. Now, can this TV deliver what the big names can? No, but it's pretty darn close, and that's why you pay $570-$600 instead of $1500-$2000. A Great value for the money. It has a contrast of 1200:1, which I think should be a good minimum to go by if you like realistic viewing without dark spots becoming impossible to make out. This one is bright, and can deliver some good clear full motion video. Sure you can buy a Sony for a TON more $$ with 10,000:1 contrast, but most people don't have that kind if dough to throw around for TV.The menus are very simple, and it has plenty of settings to tweak this puppy to your liking. I do advise reading the manual for this part, because it had settings that normal TV's do not, and can be kind of confusing to the "Electronically Challenged" folks out there. Also, read the online forums that deal with this set, you'll learn a lot from it.The sound that comes out of the built in speakers is great for a bedroom, but if you like thunderous surround, then you'll need a separate surround receiver. But for my bedroom, it's perfectly fine, and actually has a pretty good simulated surround that comes out nice & clear. The set is attractive, I really like the look of it, and the fact that it can be wall mounted was real positive for me. Now for some, depending on the location of viewing, you might be better off placing it on a dresser, and angling the view. I know when I rearrange my bedroom, I'm not going to keep it on the wall, because it does not appear like it will be the ideal viewing angle. You can buy an expensive wall mounting hardware, that will twist, swivel, pan, etc., but whether you'll need it or not will all depend on viewing location.I do like the input selections, it gives me options I've never had. For instance, it not only has HDMI, but it had 2. It also has 2 component video connections, 2 AV hookups, one with S-video, and it also had the standard coax for those who can enjoy true over the air uncompressed HD signals that will blow you away. This set has an ATSC tuner for just that purpose. As you shop around for flat panels, you'll want to make sure it comes with that (as some don't) if you want to enjoy over the air HDTV. It also has QAM built in so that some people can eliminate set top boxes for cable. You can also use this set as PC monitor if you choose, which some day I'm going the try out. It will be so much easier to read the screen in 32" instead 17" like I have now.The remote is decent, and like all new ones take some getting used to. Of course I'd like some of the button in other locations, but I think that of all my remotes. The Picture in Picture is nice, and unlike my HD rear projection, I do not have to worry about side bar burning in to the screen. The MFG. guarantees that no screen burn in can happen with this set, which puts my mind at ease when my kids pause the DVD player for hours at a time! All in all for the money I believe I got a GREAT deal. Yes there are better sets out there, but most of us cannot afford them.

5Great Customer Support....I'd buy again...and planning to.
By Elray Randolph
Vizio 32" LCD HDTV - VX32LHad a problem with the sound. Even at 100 I could barely hear the thing. I'd misplaced the receipt and so I was resigned to just using it as a computer monitor. (This thing is an awesome monitor...I tried it out..wow) Finally I decided to give Vizio customer support and call.I had the best experience I have ever had with a product and customer support. They were helpful to the point of being almost annoying (great and unbelievable) They were going to send out a technician, then decided to send out a small gizmo instead. I was instructed to connect the small box to the RJ-11 service port on the back of the TV, press the start button on the box, wait for the green light to turn orange, then wait 15 minutes for it to turn green again, disconnect the box, unplug the TV for 15 to 20 seconds, plug it back in again, turn the TV on and test the volume.Wow...it worked as advertised. Before I could barely hear the thing with it turned up to 100, now it is too loud at 40!!! I'll buy one of these again. The customer service people kept calling me to be sure that the problem was fixed. I asked them if they wanted me to send their gizmo back...Reply: "No, keep it. We're sorry for the hassle and hope you now enjoy the product." I'm looking for another one in the 42 inch range. I'll put the 32 in another room....Wow

5Great budget unit!
By A. Sanders
I bought my 32" Vizio about 6 months ago and haven't had any issues with it at all. Picture quality is great, plenty of settings that you can tinker with to get it just how you want it, and a price that's fantastic. It has plenty of inputs and outputs to hook up your gaming systems, dvd players, and home theater setups. It has HDMI as well, so the quality is good. The main thing people complain about is audio. I think it's wrong to rate this great unit lower because of the audio. For a smaller room or bedroom, the audio is just fine. Once you get into a larger room, you'll want a home theater setup. That's the way it's always been with TV's, CRT or HDTV. The audio quality isn't great, but it isn't bad.I recommend this to anybody who asks, and it's definately worth a look if you're in the market.

5EXCELLENT LED TV!!
By Insane
this is an awesome TV to have at the kids room, the image quality is AWESOME (exactly what you would expect from a Samsung product)I Highly recommend you get some HDMI cables (if youre looking to optimize the picture quality when using this product with an XBOX 360, or any other game console)PS if you're looking to buy a Television of this dimension (26 inches) then get the 720p as there is no major difference between 720p and 1080p in this size.. now if youre looking to get a television from 35 inches or bigger now I would higly recommend you look at 1080 as the picture quality is highly noticeable..

4Budget TV with Nice features and slim design view from front
By Shikha
Hi, This 32 inch Samsung TV will meet the expectations of people who don't want to shell out much money as compared to other RCA and some cheap brands which sold out on your local stores but want good looking and nice features in their TV. It has nice contrast, color and brightness combinations. Movie and dynamic modes will meet most peoples viewing criteria. Sound is also good enough and can be used in bed room without any home theater system or external speakers. Remote control has back lit feature to be use in dark room. Thickness as you see in pics is not bothering as it can hardly be seen from front and gives you the impression of slim TV. While connecting it to laptop you will require to adjust the screen resolution of your laptop to accommodate the complete picture on TV screen. It does not have VGA port which is merely require as most of the laptops sold in last 3-4 years does have HDMI port which can be used for laptop connection (I used amazon brand hdmi cable 5-6 dollar cost which is best in its class). Personally if you are looking something for your living room then you should go with at least 40 inch tv but for bed room this 32 inch size is perfect pick. Black contrast is good enough when you set the level at low. Gamma settings can be changed and cool/warm settings are also present to increase/decrease the amount of blue/red shade. After using it for few days i realized that 1080P TV is not at all required for that extra money as you will hardly be able to recognize any difference between full definition Vs 720p definition. Completely satisfied with my purchase and didn't have any complaint about it. I got what i was expecting in 350 bucks backed by amazon's trust of new unopened product. it would be nice if amazon can sell any low budget TV stand also so that people can buy them together (in range of 20-30 bucks) as you wont prefer spending 100 bucks just on stand for the TV worth cost of 350$. Highly recommended, go for it, you wont regret on your purchase. Also its very light weight to pick easily from one room to another whenever you want to shift it to other place (of course this is not daily moving item)Pros:satisfied with picture qualityNice set of features in low budget tvlook wise it is same as other costly slim TVsBack lit remote is usefullightweightUSB port to play images, mp3 and movies (most of the formats are supported as per samsung website manual)easy firmware upgrade via USB flash driveCons:Missing VGA portLittle thick in the back but hardly mattersUniversal remote feature is missing to control all other appliances related to TVShould have been sold with TV stand as bundle packageWill definitely recommend to friends and family-Shikha

3Good picture, a little thick
By DDD
I bought the Samsung UN26EH4000 and the Sharp LC26SV490 at the same to compare the pictures. Since the Samsung costs $40 more than the Sharp, I figured I would pay the extra if the Samsung's better. The Samsung's pictures are so much better than the Sharp. The Samsung is 720p and the Sharp is 1080p, but the Samsung is more clearer and more define. The only disappointing thing about the Samsung is it's much thicker than the Sharp, 3.6" vs. 2", and it's protruding out of the wall too much.

4Price and Features Make It a Good Buy - 4.5 Stars out of 5
By Cautious Consumer
Had the TV for 2 weeks, so far I am pleased. I'll begin with the TV's picture - it is excellent, colors, detail, etc...are excellent. The 3D is excellent. The 2D to 3D conversion is excellent. This plasma does have the "Soap Opera Effect" - which you can remedy by changing the picture setting to "Game Mode". I have the TV in Game Mode 24/7 and have no problems with that at all. That's where I deduct half a star - literally my only complaint. For me, this effect is extremely annoying, and I don't understand how manufacturers seem to think this is OK to ship out TVs with this strange motion effect. If you don't mind or even like this effect - this TV is even more highly recommended by me (5 out of 5 easily). The TV comes with a full internet browser which "out of the box" is controlled by the TV's remote. You can imagine that requires a little patience, but if you find a "plug 'n play" wireless keyboard - problem solved. The Internet works excellent. The TV streams Netflix movies no problem at all.The TV's form factor should also be considered a big plus. It is thin, all connections are well-thought out and located conveniently.Considering the features you get: 3D; 2D to 3D conversion (literally watch anything you want in 3D); the Internet with Netflix, full browser, USB inputs, and great picture quality - this TV is a very good deal."The Good" most certainly outweigh "the bad" in this case and I recommend this TVThe Good:-Picture Quality**-2D to 3D conversion-Full Browser/Internet/Netflix-USB inputs-Form Factor/Thin/Connections nicely locatedThe Bad:-** "Soap Opera Effect" Occurs with this plasma, but you can avoid that by using "Game" mode picture setting.- No 'HBOgo' or 'Pandora' Apps yet, but maybe this will change in the future

5Best TV Ever... (simpson's voice)
By Rabbit
This is one of the best picture quality TV's I have seen. It may SAY 720p, but it rrenders 1080p. Check LG website Model # 42PM4700. TRUST ME. Plasma is GREAT. My father has a 55" LCD Philips. He also had to buy a dongle for it (wireless) Pshh! MY TV came with everything. AND Amazon installed it for free. Why do I say free?? Got this TV for A little over $600. My dads TV was way more than that. I won't tell him (I'll wait till he sees it himself) But my TV blows his out the water. it came with the wifi dongle. has 3 HDMI ports and 2 USB. Plus 2 components, Digital out, computer hook up, bla bla bla. One charges my 3D glasses and the other for wifi. 1 hooks up to my Laptop and will play sound through it. the other is hooked up to my PS3 and the other is not yet used. This TV has SO many features. That's why they call it SMART. The ONLY problem I have with this TV is that it will only pick up 3 DTV channels. Antenna or not. With my DTV box i pick up 10 alone. IDK what the prob is what it doesn't really matter to me. I don't even watch TV. all i do is stream Netflix, play through my Laptop and Ps3. I am SO satisfied. seriously you NEED to buy this TV. Buy the official glasses that go with it. they work flawlessly!!!Ok, 3D? Great!! will make ANYTHING 3D and the depth is good. Especially if the game or show is in 3d (duhh...) Makes my PS3 all worth it. and it has many options for 3D as well.Sound is LOUD. but not buzzing loud. Good quality! not much bass but I have a subwoofer for that ;-)Overall 8.5 AGAIN the TV should say 1080p because it DOES view.

5SO FAR SO GREAT!!
By Forevermercy
Got my TV on Friday and have been messing with it all this weekend.I'm not one of those picture quality snobs, but here's my take. Out of the box the eco energer saver settings are on so its really dim. I changed the settings to "Standard" and am pretty pleased with the picture quality. The movement is a lil bit different. Not bad but different from my old Samsung TV. I think another reviewer called it the "Soap Opera Effect". Whatever it is I'm sure it could be changed but it makes no difference to me. You do notice it more in the 3D setting tho.Speaking of 3D. This is my 1st 3D tv and I bought this one specifically because of the 2D to 3D conversion capability. Maybe I still need to configure the setting to my liking but I would say this the only downfall for this TV. There's alotta ghosting! When watching something in 3D world (which is made for 3D viewing) it was almost unbearable to watch because of the ghosting. Again, maybe I just don't have the settings right. Funny enough, the 2D converted into 3D actually wasn't bad with the ghosting and I enjoyed the enhanced viewing watching shows like "Once Upon a Time" and "Awake" in 3d! But for most shows, converting is not much of an enhancement. Mind you the 3D gets a lil wonky when converting, but that's because its not meant for 3D viewing so you get things like random pop outs and stuff. But that's not the TV's fault. Other than that its a pretty neat feature and I'm impressed that now I can enhance anything I watch (even netflix) in 3D. I suggest watching Inception! But as far as the actual Cinema 3D is concerned the jury is still out since I don't have a Blue Ray yet and what content was available was rrrreally bad! I'll let you know as soon as I can pop in an actual Blue ray 3D DVD.So the "Smart TV" features. This is the other reason I purchased this set and I can say I'm pretty happy with it. The apps like youtube and netflix work as good as on my Android. But I'm hoping they add Pandora soon! I haven't downloaded any extra apps yet but I haven't seen anything I use as often as netflix.I love the idea of being able to access my computer files from the TV since I have a ton of downloaded movies. Here again, I'm not sure if I have the setting right but I wasn't able to just pop into my PC as easy as they make it sound. You have to download Plex Media Server and then add content to a library which takes time depending on how much content you have. So far, the only files I can access from the TV is those I put in that Plex libray. And often I'm not even able to connect at all to my PC. Also you can only playback certain video formats. Its kind of a pain to be honest. But when it works it streams my content just fine! Rewinding and forwarding is a lil rough though.Same from my LG G2X android phone. The smartshare feature was a lil difficult to get running but once you've figured out the correct setting I can instantly play my pictures and music directly on my tv!****UPDATE****I found it is MUCH easier to transfer movies to my kindle fire and play it off the USB! So no connection cut offs when playing a movie. Works great! So all in all so far I'm happy. I bought this TV when it was in the $500 range and think its a great buy! LOTS of great features, nice design, and solid TV viewing. I would definitely recommend!PROS:2D to 3D conversion is pretty awesome!Streaming content from netflix and other apps.Wireless access to my PC and smart phone.Cons:3D isn't the best.Difficult getting settings configured.***UPDATE***So I've been able to view original 3D footage and its LOADS better than the provided footage on the LG 3D World. There's still noticeable ghosting but you'd be hard pressed to find much improvement on other 3D sets.***UPDATE 8 MONTHS LATER***My only real regret with buying this TV is not buying the bigger one!!! My 1 yr old broke one of the 3D glasses which was a huge disappointment. But to be honest I dont really watch too much in 3D anymore. The allure has faded for me, but good thing I did notice about the TV/Glasses as compared to similar 3D sets is you dont have to be sitting straight up to watch 3D. You can watch TV in any position your heart desires and it doesn't hinder the 3D viewing. Also I recommend buying a high capacity USB flash drive (like 64 gigs). You can find them for around $30 and they fit around 20-30 movies! I pop the USB drive in the 2nd input and I have a library of movies to watch at a click. LOVE this TV!

4LG 60PM6700 Not Bad So Far - See update 6/10/2012

I ordered the LG 60PM6700 on Friday March 11th, with Free Supersaver Shipping, and it was already delivered this evening Wednesday March 16. That was fast! Two guys brought it in, set it up, and made sure everything was as it should be before I signed for it. I've only had it for about 6 hours, so I'll give my initial impression, then update it in a few days after having more experience with the set.I had previously purchased a Panasonic TC-P60S30 from WalMart for a really good price, but in the end, I was not happy with its extremely dark picture and overall substandard picture quality, so I returned it.Right off the bat this LG blows away the picture quality of the Panasonic model I had returned. Granted, this one cost me about $300 more, but I can tell you it's already worth it. So far I've tweaked the settings to where I like the color, brightness, contrast, and black levels. I used the Picture Wizard II, but then did a few more minor tweaks to suit my taste, which tends to lean towards a brighter picture. I did have an inexpensive Element Electronics 42" LCD sitting here while I was shopping for a replacement. I can say, the LG doesn't have quite the bright picture and vivid colors the smaller LCD has, but it does completely blow away the 60" Panasonic plasma I had returned. From what I've experienced, heard, and read, Plasma's just don't quite have the bright brilliant pop that LCD TV's do, but this LG looks pretty darn awesome. My tastes run towards a brighter picture, so I'm pretty picky when it comes to getting the settings I want from a TV. So far, I find this LG very pleasing. As far as the bright vivid picture I'm looking for, this set gets me where I want to be.So far, I've viewed some HD Dish Network content (Restaurant Impossible on the Food Network), and it looked great. I then put on Rango through Netflix over the built in WIFI. The jury is still out on that since I'm not sure if my WIFI isn't the best, or the TV's WIFI isn't the greatest, but WIFI over my Panasonic BluRay player seems to look fine. I then connected a LAN cable to the TV and went back to viewing Rango through Netflix, and it looks great; almost DVD quality. I'll report back about the WIFI once I figure out if it's my WIFI network or if the TV's WIFI connection isn't the greatest.Next I watched part of a DVD I burned to back up one of my movies (a DVD copy of a DVD movie) through my Panasonic DMP BDT210 BluRay player. The picture was crisp and clear, but I noticed a lot of motion judder. Even messing with the de-judder setting didn't help. It may just be my copy of the movie, but a couple of times I had previously watched it on the LCD I had and didn't notice the judder at all, so I'll have to watch a few more of my copied movies and report back.I now have a store bought DVD of Alice in Wonderland playing, and it looks absolutely amazing, and with no motion judder at all. I still have to dig out a few of my BluRay disks to check that out, but I can't imagine even a Blue Ray looking much better than the standard DVD already looks. My family room is huge, so I'm sitting about 15 feet away from the TV, and I can count the individual hairs on Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter wig.I took advantage of the free two pair of 3D glasses being offered through Amazon when purchasing the LG set, but they have not arrived yet. I should have them in a day or two, so I'll have to wait to report about the 3D experience.I have noticed one design flaw in the TV stand. Due to the glossy black half inch beveled angle of the front of the stand, it tends to reflect brighter scenes, which is a bit distracting. It's a minor flaw, but if I decide to keep this set, I'll likely paint that thin strip of the stand with some flat black spray paint or use some flat black tape to cover it and eliminate the reflection. Of course if you mount this set on the wall, then this won't be an issue at all. (Update 6/10/2012 - As it turns out, this reflection from the stand is really not an issue. I rarely even notice it at all.)So far I'm very pleased with the set. As I said, I'll report back in a few days.5/20/2012 UpdateIt's now been 4 full days of owning the LG 60PM6700 and thus far it has surpassed my expectations. The picture quality, color, brightness, and black levels, etc... ALL AMAZING! I've been through three other large screen TV's. Let's just say I'm pretty picky when it comes to being satisfied with a television. My first was a 50" Samsung I had for exactly 4 years, and it died. I purchased a LG 55LW6500 LED 3D TV, which I sent back due to horribly intolerable motion blur and judder. I then purchased a 60" Panasonic TC-P60S30, which had an incredibly dark picture and overall substandard picture quality. That one went back after trying to live with it for nearly 3 months. I also own two 40" LCD TV's which are in our bedrooms. Both of the LCDs have great picture quality. Until now, the best of all of them was definitely the Samsung plasma I had, but this new LG blows them all away. The picture detail of the LG 60PM6700 is crystal clear. The colors are awesome, the brightness is great, and the black levels are very good. I have some coppied DVDs that I burned to back up some of my favorite movies. Often the picture quality from the copied DVDs is far less than that of the originals. This TV converts the signal to a higher definition and makes even my worst copies of DVDs look pretty amazing; much better than on any TV I've ever viewed them. The 3D is pretty cool, especially the 2D to 3D conversion. It's pretty cool watching sports (I really only religiously follow drag racing) and flipping through family photos converted to 3D. This TV has so many bells and whistles. I love the apps. The web browser is a bit cumbersome, but with some practice I can see it getting easier. The smart phone app pretty much replaces the Magic Remote, so no real need to purchase that if you have an iPhone or Android.I have yet to see a perfect television. In my opinion, as of yet, they just don't exist. It seems every set has its flaws. What one excels at in one area, has its shortcomings in other areas. I don't believe in rating a TV 5 stars if it has flaws, no matter how pleased I am. It doesn't leave anywhere to go with the rating when you do find that "perfect TV," so it just dilutes the whole rating system. This is why I give this TV 4 stars and not 5.So here are the flaws:*There is some noticeable ghosting on moving objects; some content worse than others.*I've noticed some slight motion judder on occasions, and some motion blur; again only on occasions.*That super thin frame doesn't remain as thin when watching the TV. LG has added an additional black boarder around the actual picture, when then increases the total frame width to about an inch when the TV is turned on. I wish they had not done that because one of the beautiful features about the TV's design is that very thin half inch frame, but even with the addition of about another half in when the set is on, it's still a very thin frame, and very attractive design. Odd that they did that though because it's misleading to claim a super thin frame, if it's only super thin when the set is turned off.*The Active 3D isn't the greatest to watch is even a moderately lit room like mine. In the light of the room your peripheral vision will pick up the flickering of the glasses, when can be a bit distracting, or for some, even annoying. (In a dim setting, you can't see it, so it's not an issue at all, and the 3D looks great. The 3D has some nice adjustment features which does allow the viewer to tweak the 3D effect to their comfort level, and the glasses are very lightweight.)So, as of day 4, I'm amazed at the picture quality, and all this set has to offer. If my opinion changes, I'll surely update my review.Update 6/10/2012I've now owned this television for exactly a month, and I have to say, this is the best television I've ever owned. In my opinion, those rating this TV 2 stars have not compared it in their home to other 60" televisions; but I have. I also believe they aren't realizing that all TVs have their flaws in some area or another. I've compared a lot of sets and I can say with confidence, there simply is no perfect television on the market, and the larger TV, the more magnified the flaws. I have compared the LG 60PM6700 to other 60" televisions I've owned, and to other's I have not owned, and can safely say this TV blows the others away; especially for the money. I originally purchased the television for $1,499 and since then Amazon has lowered the price to $1,299 I called customer service and they promptly refunded me the difference. Trust me when I say, for the money, even at $1,499 you can't go wrong with this television. The picture quality, along with all its bells and whistles, blows away much more expensive TVs that make all sorts of grand claims.

4Updated review - Owned for nearly 1 year now
By Don
I have to agree with one of the other reviewers. I had the tv for about a week before the software asked to update. I wish I had known before I allowed it to update, because the picture was pretty good up until that point (I hadn't done a lot of picture adjustments yet), but once the software updated, I got the same effects as the other reviewer. Ghosting motion whenever anything moves somewhat quickly. Soap opera effect on some channels - it seems to be more pronounced on certain channels. The blurry motion, or "ghosting", happens all the time, no matter the quality of the input source, however the higher quality channels definitely look much better than the lower quality channels. It looks like a funhouse mirror effect around a face or body whenever the motion is quick or they walk in front of a fence or other object that has a criss-cross pattern. I too contacted LG via email and a phone call. They said they were aware of the problem caused by the firmware update & their engineers are working on fixing it. However, they made it sound like it would be done in a couple of days. It's been just over a month, and no updates yet. I'm a bit frustrated because, as it is, the tv is worse than my cheap 40" Dynex LCD flat-screen with a 60hz refresh rate, and I bought the plasma thinking that with the 600hz refresh rate, I would never have to see any blurred motion again.I have since made several, and I mean several, adjustments to the settings to try and minimize the problem. So far, the best I've found is with the Noise Reduction set to "high", and the TruMotion set on "user" and the effect all the way up to 10. This doesn't always seem to be the best set-up, but overall, it did help. I still play with the settings when I get irritated with the ghosting, but it pretty much just frustrates me more.I didn't return the tv, because I am holding out hope that LG will get the problem fixed soon, and because I put another $100 into 2 more pairs of 3D glasses (got 2 pairs free) that I didn't want to have to return. If LG does get the software problem fixed, I would definitely give the tv 5 stars. The problem is, how long will that take?On a side note, the 2D to 3D conversion is a pretty cool function to have. It makes any show you want into a 3D picture. As I don't have a 3D Blu Ray player yet, I can't compare to what a real 3D movie would look like, but for now, it's a pretty cool option on the tv.One other negative - no Amazon Instant Video in the internet apps. The LG representative replied via email that he would put in a "request to the factory" to let them know that I had asked that this app be added, but who knows how far that will actually go. I have a Roku box I can use for access to Amazon content, but it would be really nice not to have to plug it into this tv just to watch my Amazon movies, since I already have the Roku hooked to a different tv.UPDATE 7-28-2012A couple of days ago I finally found a new firmware update available. I downloaded the newest firmware, and voila, the ghosting is gone...so is the soap opera effect. I have now given the tv 5 stars, as it really does have a beautiful picture. I thought about giving it 4 stars for not having Amazon Instant Video as part of the internet apps, and because it took so long for LG to update the firmware, but I bought the tv knowing that the Amazon content wasn't there. Just remember to go back into your picture settings and turn off (or down) the Noise Reduction and turn off the TruMotion controls. This will now make your picture look much better during scenes with fast motion.P.S. Only a few days before this update came through, I found that I could set the tv on the "game" setting, and this took away most of the problems described above. Too bad I wasn't smart enough to try this way earlier - I had done just about everything else.UPDATE 2-9-2013The tv still has a beautiful picture, and I like it a lot, but a few months ago, the picture started to get "jerky" when watching anything through the tv's Netflix app. I wrote an email to LG, but got their standard "sorry about your problem" non-answer and asked that I call customer service for more help. Since I also have Netflix through my blu-ray player, I just stopped using the tv's app for a while. In December, I decided to check it out again, and the tv's Netflix app was still doing the same thing - picture would get very jerky after only a few minutes, and then it would come and go. I called their customer service, and they had me go into the tv menu and reset the apps using the "Initialization of Premium" menu choice. This didn't help. They told me if this didn't work to call back, and I'd probably need to have a technician look at it. I only have a couple months of warranty left, but I'm not sure I want someone to tear my tv apart for this, so I haven't yet called back. Although it does bug me that it doesn't work properly, I feel like it has to be a software problem, not the wi-fi module, because it seems to work fine with the other apps I've tried. For this reason, I've dropped the tv down to 4 stars now. I still may call for service, but I haven't decided yet.

5plasma vs LCD
By Jeffrey Liu
I was just a regular Joe looking for a good deal for a new 3D TV on line. The brand did not matter to me as much. My biggest struggle was trying to decide between Plasma vs LCD/LED and active 3D vs passive 3D. I am not in the gaming. I just wanna get a great TV so I can enjoy it after long hours of work. I finally picked this Plasma TV with a newer version of the active shutter goggles. So far, it has been a week and I love it. I think I have made the right decision. This Plasma TV still gives me the great quality of TV in 3D or 2D. The goggles are very light weight. The smart TV features are cool and nice. This TV truly delivers as described on Amazon. The only complaint I have about this TV is that its WiFi is weak. I am not sure if it is the problem from the TV or from my wireless connection. The WiFi still delivers what it is supposed to 95% of the time. I think it is still not too bad for a "smart TV". I would recommend this product to anyone.

5Great tv
By bobby
I went to purchase the lc-70le640 but when the salesman went in the back he can back and said he had one 640 in stock and one 650 in stock. The 650 model was 70 dollars cheaper. When we compared the features it identical to the 640 except it had the duo-core processor and better smart features plus the bezel around the TV was has as think. It was a no brain er for me to get the newer model for 70 dollars less. The tv has one of the nicest pictures I ever saw. The smart feature works flawless. Like almost every other new led TV, the sound is not great but I don't care because I'm going through a yamaha receiver anyway. Sometimes I think the picture is actually to clear bc when you watch a block buster movie it's like the actors are in the next room. I had the tv for almost two weeks and it has performed flawless. if your in need of a good tv for a really good price, give this tv a look.

4Nice!...
By Gene K. (aka Tyronious Ledbedder Beaver-Bottom)
The TV arrived when it was scheduled, it was in perfect condition and the delivery guys were very pleasant and friendly. At first I was somewhat disappointed by what I will call " motion artifacts", with the picture looking as if everything had been filmed with a handheld camera. I am familiar with the Soap Opera Affect, but this was somewhat different than that. However, since I had connected the TV with a Cat 5 to my network when I set it up, it immediately told me that a software update was available. I somewhat reluctantly clicked "OK" and the update downloaded quickly and was applied flawlessly. And after some additional adjustments the picture is great! As with any high quality HDTV, the picture is only as good as the source material, so with both cable and streaming sources the picture quality varies a bit from program to program. I am looking into having it professionally calibrated, as I think that will make it even better. I will post an update if and when I get that done.

5Exceeds expectations
By Bill Gatewood Jr.
I purchased this to replace a 50" plasma. i was looking at the 640 but saw the 650 had just been released. The picture is exceptional, the smart functions are robust and the initial setup was simple. So far, I am very impressed. When watching sports during the last few days, I almost thought I had a front row seat.
