5Jaw dropper..
By Floyd Goodrich
I happened upon a shopping network that spent an hour promoting this TV. I got interested and did as much researching as I could then finally ordered it through Amazon. Right out of the box without any adjustments I could hardly believe my eyes, the picture was just great and the sound is also very good. The contrast on this TV is claimed at five million to one due to the extra yellow pixel. Don't know about 5 million but I will say the contrasts this TV produces are the best I've ever seen and by a long-shot. I will say this TV has the best and most real looking color of any TV I've ever seen, it's really something to see. A few nit-picks are that the volume button is to close to the channel up-down button on the remote, you have to be careful in the dark adjusting the volume or you go to an over the air channel by mistake then you have to redo your input selection. The screen has a glass cover and it reflects room items badly so you need to keep the room dark in front of the TV to keep glare off of it. The really nice features are 4 HDMI connections and a component connection plus 2 USB (thumb-drive) connections where you can view JPEG pictures or listen to MP3 music. It also has an assortment for other attachments so it lacks nothing. The base for this TV is made of glass and metal, nice looking and substantial. It's not 3D ready but my wife can't watch 3D anyway so that's not an issue to me. The TV is extremely thin and if you wanted to wall mount it, it would be easy as the connections on this TV connect to the side or to the bottom, none on the back. All I can say is this is the absolute best picture I've ever seen in my 71 years on a TV and it has very nice sound. What more could I ask for.

5Happy Sharp LC52LE820UN customer
By rt
Several weeks back, we ordered this TV from Modia through Amazon.com. The TV arrived in poor shape, large holes in the box exposing the TV itself. We refused delivery and Amazon.com was very prompt in refunding our money. Modia was most uncooperative in resolving this situation. Needless to say, we will not be doing business with Modia evermore. After the disappointing delivery, the order from Vanns arrived in pristine shape, including the box in which it was packed. And at a price of nearly $150 less. The TV was easy to connect including a 10/12-year old receiver that allows us to watch our laser disc collection. Picture and sound are great. I would recommend Amazon.com, Vanns and Sharp to anyone looking for a great TV at a great price with excellent customer service.

5Beautiful and easy enough for an HD beginner
By 216bhv
After deciding to go HD, we waded through the confusing jungle of equipment and options. We chose this TV for its picture quality and style, which do not disappoint. It was unexpectedly easy to unpack and set up, only requiring a screwdriver to attach the base securely. Since it is very heavy (not surprising for the size of it), having home delivery was a great option. It was awesome for watching football and we can't wait to explore more programming. Now if someone would just do something about the ridiculous cable HD charges.

3A good TV for the money - UPDATE
By E. Hibbard
I purchased this TV for $399 on a lightning deal and thought that I was buying at a great price. A week and half later the regular price dropped to $369 and thanks to Amazon's TV price guarantee I received a credit for the difference. That makes this TV an AWESOME deal. The TV is easy to set up, simply tighten 3 screws to the stand. When I turned it on, the first thing I noticed was that the screen is very bright and because it is LED backlit, the white is a very cool blue. I toyed with the settings a bit, and set the warmth to cool and the mode to movie. A previous reviewer's comments about the color settings are dead on, and the combination I am using creates the most natural color settings. When I initially connected the TV, I was not overly enthused by the picture quality, there were artifacts and quite a bit of pixelation. Also, after I had turned the TV off for a while and then turned it back on, I would have sound and no picture except for vertical lines. The display said the picture was broadcasting at 0p. I was worried that this might have been a bad purchase, and that I would have to return the TV.I run a TIVO and ROKU box through my Sony home theater system. My problem with the vertical lines stemmed from the settings on my receiver. After I reset the receiver, shutting off the standby and and HDMI pass-thru I have had no further issues with vertical lines and a 0p signal. My ROKU looked awesome from the get go, and I had no issues with pixelation or artifacts, so I reasoned that my issues with picture had something to do with my cable/TIVO. I corrected the issues by manually adjusting the broadcast settings on my TIVO, so that it would transmit at 480p through 1080p. This eliminated 99% of my issues with the picture. I don't watch sports so the 60Hz refresh rate is adequate for my needs.I can't comment on sound, since I use a home theater system, but I will say that, since I properly tuned the settings, I really like the picture on this TV and I am glad that I made the purchase and that I don't have to return it.***UPDATE*** 12/14/12I AM EXCHANGING THIS TV BECAUSE OF THE APPEARANCE OF BLUE HORIZONTAL LINES ACROSS THE SCREEN. I SHOULD RECEIVE A REPLACEMENT ON TUESDAY. I AM CROSSING MY FINGERS THAT THIS IS SIMPLY A DEFECTIVE UNIT. I WOULD RECOMMEND PURCHASING SERVICE CONTRACT IF YOU PURCHASE THIS TELEVISION.

5Buy store brand cereal? Then this TV is for you
By UPS man
We have a LG 3d 55 downstairs we bought last year for the living room for over a grand, this TV is not it. That being said, it is a great value for what it is, a basic non smart 1080p LED slim TV (with 2, not 3 HDMI ports). If you're looking for Samsung/Sony/LG quality picture or stream anything using just this TV, we'll you're out of luck. I'd suggest buying a set a 2.1 computer speakers for around 30 bucks to make this thing the perfect buy. The kids have yet to complain the ICarly looks like crap or come wondering downstairs crying because they can't stream Season 1 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This TV is for someone on a budget, looking to put this in an additional room, or someone who doesn't care if it's name brand or not, they just want something that's big and works. Pair this with a cheap bluray player with some apps (amazon streaming,NetFlix, ect) 2.1 computer speakers, and a wall mount to make this perform bestGet close to the name brand quality out of this off brand name, the value for what you get is well worth it.UPDATE- Added photos to help show some of the features and size.

5Great TV for the price
By Bob
I bought this TV on Wednesday and had it by Friday with the free super saver shipping. Amazing. I am not a tv/ tech freak like most people who buy TVs. I was looking for a bargain and I think this TV is worth what I paid. It exceeds expectations for a $350 hdtv set.Picture Quality:The picture quality is great, very sharp and very bright. Great colors and sharpness. I was really worried about getting a 60hz tv because I watch a lot of sports and will play xbox on occasion. I have not hooked up the xbox yet, but I watched some basketball and football on this set and it looks great. I have it next to a 120hz set and honestly, I cant really tell a difference. It is not choppy and it is not blurry while watching sports. There may be a slight difference but you really have to concentrate to look for it.If you are a casual/ average viewer, you will be pleased. If you want to compare this to 600-700 tv, I'm sure it isnt as good, but is that what you are expecting? The quality is more than fine and you will be satisfied for the price you pay.Notes:As others have said, this tv has 2 HDMI ports, not 3. The remote is pretty cheap and the reference manual is a joke. The stand is good quality and the tv itself, picture aside, looks really nice. The bezel is small and it has a brushed texture finish. It doesn't look cheap and if it didn't have the name "haier" on it, you would probably think it cost a lot more than it does. I read reviews about the speakers and how much they suck. At first when I was testing it out, I thought the speakers really did kinda suck. It has a plug for hooking up your own set of speakers so I quickly remedied that. With all this being said, I have owned the tv for a couple days and have tried to test it out with movies, sports, and general tv. Overall it is good and I give it a thumbs up.I should also note that it did not have any dead pixels. If I run into any issues, I will update this review.

Sharp AQUOS LC46LE700UN 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV

Product Description

With the introduction of the LC46LE700UN, Sharp combines its legendary AQUOS LCD panel technology with a newly developed, proprietary Full Array LED backlight system to create picture quality that is second to none. The LC46LE700UN illustrates Sharp's LCD technology leadership while also demonstrating its LED engineering advantages. Sharp's Ultra Brilliant LED system illuminates the TV to extremely high brightness and contrast levels and enables significant environmental benefits such as longer life expectancy, no heavy metals and lower power consumption. At the same time, the new XGen LCD Panel utilizes an ingeniously devised pixel design that permits more light to pass through even while minimizing light leakage, with the result being the deepest black levels that AQUOS has ever achieved. Overall, the LC46LE700UN shows that with Sharp, it's not just LED… it's AQUOS LED.

5Perfect Value Point
By D. Held
Currently this is one of the cheapest LED LCD tvs on the market. Why is it so cheap? Sharp skipped out on a few features that that add a lot to the price without adding a lot to the quality.1) No sub-dimming.Many LED tvs support dimming some of the LEDs to get blacker blacks. While this sounds great in theory, the problem is currently the resolution of the LED array is much lower than of the LCD array. This means that the dimming can't perfectly match the image so you'll sometimes see edges glowing. I'm happier without this feature as the lighting is consistent.2) Not 240hz.The input is 60hz (at best) which can then be extrapolated into 120hz (which this tv does). Going up to 240hz makes it more likely that the interpolations will guess wrong and offers little benefit in terms of noticeable difference.3) Not super thin. Some LED tvs are ridiculously thin. While uber-thin tvs look nice hanging on a wall, it adds a lot to the price tag. It also means less space for inputs. This TV has a great form-factor and looks amazing. I doubt you'll ever notice how thin your TV is after buying it.On the other hand, Sharp didn't skimp on the LED panel, using full-array backlighting. This gives more consistent brightness than perimeter LEDs.My one small complaint is that it takes a bit longer to switch inputs and turn on than I'd like.Overall, I highly recommend this tv. The picture quality is superb. When I went to a retail store to compare it to non-LED tvs I could see a world of difference. The contrast is amazing with deep blacks and the colour is very vivid. It even works great as a 1920x1080 monitor for my mac mini using a DVI to HDMI adapter.* Update: I'm not sure how I never realized it before, but it actually takes about 10 seconds to turn on the TV from fully off. I don't mind too much, but if you will this is not the TV for you.

5AMAZING !!!!!......
By Sparty
.... is the best word to describe this TV. After months of research, questions, comparing, and price shopping, I truly feel like I got the best bang for my buck with this TV. The picture is amazingly crisp and bright, the colors pop off the screen, and the blacks are very good for an LCD-LED. One of the main questions I had was the 120Hz vs. the 240Hz, and if that really made a big difference. After talking with countless reps and reading/watching reviews online it was pretty clear that even these "experts" were having a hard time noticing any major difference. If they did see a difference, it was minimal at best. To each their own though. Each of our brains process images differently, so some people might notice a difference. I could not see any major difference, so it was not worth paying the $400 more for the 240Hz.For me, it came down to this TV vs. the Samsung UN46B7000. Here is why I decided to go with the Sharp......* Comparing them side by side the picture/colors were better on the Sharp. Period.* With the full backlit LEDs vs. the edge lighting on the Samsung, the Sharp's screen was brighter.* Sure the Samsung is much slimmer coming in at just under an inch and a half, but you don't buy a TV to look at it from the side. I have mine mounted on the wall, and it only sticks out 4 inches. Really what you have to decide is what you prefer.... asthetics of the TV vs. picture quality.* Read every review on the Samsung and the most common complaint about them is the sound. Because it's so thin, the speakers are crap, and the sound is horrible. If you are seriously looking at a Samsung, go into the store and have the rep turn off the surround sound and turn up the TV's speakers. You'll understand what I'm talking about.* And the #1 reason??........it's cheaper. After all, it's all about the Benjamins.I would highly recommend this TV to anyone who is looking to make the jump to an LCD-LED. Not only do you get amazing picture quality, but it's cheaper than most LCD-LED sets out there. 5 stars.

5This the one to buy!
By David M. Lindahl
I am a professional analyst and before buying anything major I research it to the nth degree. When I started looking for a 46-inch hdtv for my new sunroom. I assumed I would end up with a Samsung or Sony or maybe a Toshiba. After reading about their shortcomings (the Samsungs have a problem with corner-flashing with the edge-lighting and the Sony, especially the V-series, had a host of issues including reliability and poor color balancing--too red), I started looking at their competitors. When I saw the Sharp in a row of other sets, it immediately caught my attention. The picture just seemed to "pop" out of the set. It just seemed so much more realistic and vivid and "lifelike." The more I looked into it, I understood why. It is an LED set, like the Sony and Samsung, but uses a different lighting approach that does not introduce the errors that are common to the others. The Sharp also had something that none of the others have...the Quattron technology. It is the only one that adds another color (yellow) to the standard red-blue-green mix. It may not sound like much, but it makes all the difference in the world. This set makes me smile every time I watch it. The room in which I placed it has a fair amount of ambient light, but the Sharp does fine there day or night. It may not be as thin as the Sammie but that is more of a gimmick than anything. I have my set mounted on a swing arm and actually prefer the more solid feel of the Sharp. As has been pointed out earlier, the 120hz is all you need for motion control. Any more than that introduces (on other sets) artifacts that are distracting. The sound is not the best (although it is as good as most)...how much performance do you expect from tiny speakers? I run my audio through an Onkyo A/V receiver and it rocks. Sharp did a fabulous job in putting a stunning LED hdtv out there for a price much less than its competition. This is the BEST 46-inch hdtv for the money, without a doubt! If you are on the bubble and can't decide, let me help. Save some money and buy the Sharp, you will be glad you did.

5Ceton Infinitv 4 USB is Awesome...........
By Shawn Jacobsen
I purchased the Ceton Infinitv 4 USB as soon as it was released. Set up with Windows Media Center was very easy. Bit of advice, download the latest drivers from Ceton's Support site prior to installation. I had a couple of problems and Ceton's support was quick to answer my questions. The problems were not with the device, but rather the user. Activating the cable card with my cable company Comcast was difficult. It took three days to actually get it working correctly. The problem was not with the device, but rather the cable company. They had to make sure the Cablecard was in their inventory as a one-way card then they actually had to activate as a one-way instead of a two-way card. Once they had it activated it worked flawlessly. I am running Windows 7 with 3ghz processor and 8gb of ram and have no problem recording up to 4 shows and watching tv through 3 xbox media extenders at once. This device works great and now my wife is no longer bugging me to buy 3 tivo's with lifetime service to replace the cable company's sub-par dvr. I highly recommend this device if you want true control over your tv. I have 2 3tb drives for my recordings and can store over 600 hours of hd programming. The combination of Windows 7 Media Center and the Ceton Infinitv 4 USB give you great customization options and works flawlessly.

5Works
By Twiggins
This product works like they said it does. Had to call Comcast twice to pair the cablecard, second time worked. They had left the data number off the first time. Can now watch TV and record 3 programs at once. Quality of the picture is as good or better than with Comcast's DVR. Great product.

4Ceton PCIe vs. HD Homerun Prime vs. Ceton USB
By Noisy1
The Ceton USB tuner is the last of 3 different CableCard tuners I have set up. I own a PCIe Ceton card, the HD Homerun Prime 6 tuner unit and the Ceton USB. (Yes, that is 14 HD cable streams!!) In short the PCIe is the hands down king of CableCard tuners, the HD Homerun Prime has tuner pooling, and the Ceton USB is pulling up the rear. The Ceton PCIe unit has been by far the easiest set up, most stable and the best card of the three. It has never had a glitch, it was set up and running in no time, the cable company techs had very little difficulty getting it going and it has never ever shown so much as a single pixel of picture faults. No "tiling" and no slow downs. No over demands on the computer. The only cons with the Ceton PCIe card are the heat inside the box and the lack of tuner pooling. Until I could get the other tuners up and running I was sharing the PCIe tuner with two other PCs running Media Center which worked flawlessly on a wired network. However, without tuner pooling I had tuner conflicts like no tomorrow!! 4 tuners are not enough for cable recording. Not even close without pooling. You should think very seriously about heat dissipation if you are considering putting two of these inside your computer. The HD Homerun Prime was more (a whole lot more) difficult to set up, but that really is more a function of Charter Cable's difficulty in keeping two CableCard installs straight at the same time. I can't fault the picture quality, though it seems to be ever so slightly more grainy than the Ceton PCIe. On the Panasonic VT-25 the picture was very, very good though just a bit more grainy than with the Ceton PCIe. However, on the Sony touchscreen computer (VPCL234FX/B) in the kitchen there is a significant diffidence in picture quality which, I think, is more due to the Sony's NIC than anything else. (Though the Ceton PCIe streaming to it never had any issues and a clearer picture.) Whatever problems that people had on the roll out of the HD Homerun Prime are no longer an issue with the latest firmware installed as of 12.28.2011. Once the Charter people got all their ducks in a row the 6 tuners have been running like a charm. Did I mention that the tuners pool!!The Ceton USB tuner has proven to be a bit more difficult to set up. It shares the same cable feed as the PCIe card, but I regularly experience SDV error 1 codes. The Charter tech measured the signal and said it was a very strong signal. When looking at the card on the Ceton diagnostic tool it claims that the signal is too weak. The result is that the card is unable to resolve tuning. Moreover, when I can get card working it has significant tiling. Also to note is that the USB version is very hot... like a small space heater hot. While it is good to get that kind of heat outside of the CPU box, know that it is not - at all - cooler running than the PCIe. Though I continue to have problems with the card, so much so and so regular that I decided to turn it off after Charter got it properly paired up, I should say that it is very well made with an impressive metal casing. It is worth noting that I have been using the USB off the same cable feed and through the same computer as the PCIe card. Additionally, I'm using all the latest Nvidia drivers and up to date USB 2.0 and 3.0 drivers. The CPU is a quad core 3.0+ Ghz Phenom. Nothing about this computer is even mildly taxed with all 14 streams, but the USB still struggles.I think that it is worth noting the complications and tribulations of getting a CableCard properly installed. I have used the Charter techs and also picked up and installed my own CableCards. Sometimes it works like a charm and other times it is a two day task of seeming total impossibility. First, the billing side of the house must be in order properly. This is to say the card must be correctly coded into your account. Then the various numbers must be all correct when you call to activate or the card will not pair correctly. In my case I have experienced various different errors which are almost always due to a clerical error on the part of my cable company. Just keep making the techs come back until you get the right one who is smart enough to ask the right questions. Better an actual Charter tech than a subcontractor as they seem to have more access to the advanced video help back at the mothership. I can't fault any of these manufacturers for set up woes... All the tuner cards are actually incredibly simple to set up and use. The only issue between you and HD cable recording bliss is the total lack of knowledge on the part of the cable company. Know what you are getting yourself into before you buy one of these cards as making it through the gauntlet of the cable company could be very difficult. Reserve three days and hope for ten minutes of set up time.
