5Quite happy, awesome picture and great Smart TV features
By D. Wichmann
When I purchased the 60" version of this tv a couple weeks ago I was a little nervous since it didn't have any reviews at the time. However the 6500 and 7500 had enough positive reviews to make me comfortable, and most negatives had to do with buggy 2012 software which I'm assuming they'll address, and also which I have not experienced myself at this point. The 7100 seemed like a nice step up in performance and aesthetics over the 6500 w/out a big price difference.I'm a bit surprised to see some of the negative reviews at this point. I've had mine for 2 weeks and thus far am quite impressed. I was replacing a 6-year old 720p 40" Sony LCD and the first thing I noticed is that this 60" 1080p makes lower quality programming very noticeable. No surprise here when increasing the screen size and resolution, clearly low quality programming will look worse. However when I popped in a blu ray (Start Trek 2009) I was completely blown away with the quality, clarity and sharpness. It was simply the best looking picture I had ever seen, and it was right there in my living room. The picture produced from my Xbox 360 was also amazing, it took game playing to a whole new level. It's clear that this set has the potential to display an incredible picture with a high quality source, however it will make your lower quality programming look rather poor, and even my Comcast HD programming pales in comparison to a blu ray.I found the SmartTV feature really nice. The interface is clean, responsive and intuitive. I was disappointed with missing apps for 2012's including HBO Go and Amazon Instant, but I'm hoping it's just a matter of time. The Netflix app works nice and HD shows on Netflix look quite good as well. I'm also able to stream most photos and videos from my network attached storage device via DLNA, including large file size mkv videos (e.g. 17GB), including 3D as well. Unfortunately however my iPhone videos did not play.Sound is adequate for tv speakers and for regular shows I just use the built in sound, of course for better movie and gaming experience I turn on my surround sound system for a better experience. Aesthetically the set looks really sharp, a big difference over the 6500 with a substantially thinner bezel and a nice lighted Samsung symbol at the bottom.I have noticed a bit of edge blur which is apparently common for edge lit led tvs, but it's only apparent during some very dark scenes, and I haven't really adjusted the picture settings much at this point so I believe this is something that can be minimized.Overall I'm quite happy and I think this is an excellent set for the money.

5AMAZING television despite some negative reviews
By M. May
This TV looks fantastic (both the picture and the actual product)!! After some manipulation of the settings, you can really dial it in to look even better than it looks out of the box (i.e. auto motion plus - off, brightness adjustment, ambient light dimming - off, etc). The black levels are stealthy and near-plasma levels. The color is vibrant and rich. During motion, the picture is one of the best of LCD/LED televisions. Motion isn't quite as good as Plasma, but it isn't too far off. If you are coming to this from a Plasma, give your eyes some time (a week maybe) to adjust to the motion and it will become less noticeable. It's not that your eyes adjust to a worse picture as much as your eyes adjusting to a different technology. Watching my plasma now, I almost feel like it blends/dithers motion which makes it appear smoother when really it is just less "clear" but your eyes tend to accept the blending/dithering that Plasma TVs naturally produce as being more realistic but your eyes will adjust to the nicer LED TVs' motion fairly easily. But, as for this product, it really is a great TV with a great picture. The Smart TV features are ok but should really be viewed as a bonus feature unless that is driving your purchasing decision. My experience is that no apps or Smart TV-like features on any TVs are perfectly executed. They all have their quirks. The picture quality is really fantastic. I am on DirecTV and also use my XBox 360 and a BluRay player. There are a couple channels that seem a little grainy and aren't as good with motion, but I haven't seen those kind of things on BluRay or while playing video games. Just a couple channels that occasionally have grainier content. Watching football, basketball, and other programming has been great and the only channel remotely important to me that had grainy content a couple times was the Golf channel. Everything else is super clear and has great motion. As an FYI, the Auto Motion Plus feature will give some shows or movies the "Soap Opera" effect which is why I turn it off completely or have it set to Custom and turn the settings way down. The best way to describe the "soap opera effect" that I know if is that the depth of the picture seems to be off. It looks like it was filmed with an HD home video camera. It is especially visible when the camera pans side to side and Auto Motion is on. I think things look better with that off, but, like with TV picture preferences in general, it is all personal preference. These settings just seem to be more natural for my viewing and are more similar to Plasma and CRT televisions. To speak to the negative reviews that I read I'll just say a few things. First, this is not the cheapest LED or LCD out there. It isn't a "bargain" but it really will outperform lower-priced TVs as far as picture is concerned. After house sitting for some friends and watching their $1500 LCD, let's just say I was annoyed watching their TV even after tuning it. So, if you are willing to pay for a nicer picture, this TV will deliver. That is all, of course, based on personal preference. As far as quality out of the box, this TV was packaged well and seems to be built very well. I haven't had any issues with hardware or software. The TV is fairly fragile as its thickness prevents major reinforcements to rigidity. Once it is out of the box, be careful with the bottom (Samsung logo bump may hold all the weight if you set it down). Also be careful to keep it perpendicular to the ground. If you are holding one end and the other end is not being held, the weight of the TV and lack of rigidity causes the unsupported end to bend toward the ground if it's not kept straight up and down. I was able to unbox the TV and mount it on my wall by myself which I do not recommend at all but that should speak to the light weight and build quality. Just remember that it is a very thin piece of glass, silicon and metal and is fragile until you have it mounted or on its stand. Be careful and have a friend help and you will be fine.To sum up, compared to other LCD/LED TVs, this is a great option. The picture is bright, rich and clear and the TV looks awesome from a design standpoint. There are probably some plasma TVs that will provide a better picture at around the same price but they don't have the same thin footprint, will consume more power, and (in my opinion) offer only marginal black level advantages. This TV is great with the lights off at night or for watching during the day in a bright room. Make sure to adjust the settings. Construction quality is good though, it is still a thin and relatively fragile piece of equipment (so be careful while unboxing!). After a side-by-side in my living room with a similarly priced Panasonic plasma, it was close as far as picture but the thin bezel and thin profile won me over. I've had it for 3 months and I absolutely love it.

5Wow....1 regret..one complaint..
By Superman Reads (Singapore/USA)
First and foremost, I'm not an video freak, nor am I the techie guy that can explain every single in and out of a tv. I'd say I'm an average guy that was looking for an above average picture on the tv, with a little functionality with Netflix, Pandora and some of the streaming movie apps. The room I put the TV in is my sunroom, meaning 2 of the 4 walls are just about all windows and the sun hits them perfectly. Needless to say, glare was a concern and consideration before purchasing.About 2 months ago I purchase the Samsung UN55ES6500, so I have a pretty good reference for comparison. I was and am still extremely happy with the UN55ES6500 because it's a quality tv, friendly apps and only occasionally have wifi issues while watching netflix, but I'm fairly certain it's my home router rather than the tv.The UN46ES7100 is worth every penny. My big debate was whether or not the 7100 was worth the extra money in comparison to the 6500.. YES.. YES.. YES.. For the folks that have left reviews and stated you can't tell much of a difference, they are completely wrong. I put the two tvs side by side (which is so easy now with wireless cable boxes) and the 7100 blows it away and I was completely satisfied with the 6500 and still am. The 7100 is just a sharper picture and the quality is much greater. I'm a big sports guy, especially college football and this tv offers the best picture I have seen. I have not seen the 7500 or 8000 series in person, so I can't compare to those two, but this picture is simply amazing, especially for sports. There's no blurring and you feel you're right on the field.I tried the 3D for the first time yesterday, watching Avatar and it's pretty incredible. It's not the same as in the theater because TV technology just isn't there yet, but it's still going to give you a fun 3d effect and it's a nice feature to have, especially with some of the kids 3d movies. The depth of the 3D is amazing. The part that's lacking are the out of the TV effects, meaning the ones that are supposed to pop out of the tv.There are zero glare issues, which I hoped for with the LED. If there was ever a room to have a glare problem, this is it. None. The apps are great.. Easy to use and I've had no issues.. I've used a half dozen so far such as netflix, vudu, pandora, etc.. No issues.. I didn't buy it for web surfing or using facebook.. It's my tv, not my computer. My one regret.. The size. 46 is a nice size.. I think 55 would have been better. With as thin and tiny amount of space these things take up nowadays, the tv doesn't look that big.One complaint.. the sound isn't amazing.. I knew that going in.. SOme of it probably has to do with the tv being a size too small for the room as well as it not being an accoustic friendly room, but I'm think a soundbar or surround sound is going to be needed for movies.. It's fine for tv shows and sports, but some movies it's tough to get clarity on the speech.Final thought.. Is the 7100 and the microdimming worth the extra $300? Absolutely.. if you can afford it, it's completely worth it.. I wouldn't go out of your price range to get it, but if you can afford it, you'll be thrilled with this tv.EDIT: One thing to add that's important.. the cables you use and input are extremely important, meaning the Blu ray player can't be junk and the cable can't be cheap in order to get the best quality.. I learned that by testing different ones.. For HDMI, get the mediabridge.. Hands down the best picture you're going to get. Don't compromise there or you're wasting money on a great tv.

5You don't have to be techno to figure this one out.
By Sandi Haunani Oguma
We treated ourselves to a new Samsung this Christmas. And, of course, you gotta have the Blu-Ray. We chose Sony because of its reputation (too bad their TVs aren't as great as Samsung). I connected everything up and it was so easy and easy use to use, too. Our next step is to upgrade to one universal remote for four different devices.

5Sony Blended Components
By Diane B. Honzell
We purchased this particular blue-ray player because we have a Sony HD Big Screen... Matching components just made sense and we are thrilled with the results. We went against our own theory though by adding a Bose surround sound... The sound and picture is available. If much of your entertainment dollar is spent on DVD and movies for the family at home; you can't beat this combination without spending much more than we could afford.

1Looks like the S790
By bonnyyew
The Sony S790 was a waste of money. We have been using this for about 6 months and are constantly disappointed. I can find and stream shows easily from my laptop that I cannot find on this. For instance, "Iron Chef America" is easily found in Hulu and HuluPlus on my laptop (PC) and my wife's Mac. Sony cannot find it period. I can stream TV shows from NBC on my laptop, but the files are too big for the "top of the line" SONY. It is very cumbersome to use; the search must be done with perfect spelling but it still won't always find what you are looking for.

4Sound Fixed
By Jane
My husband bought me this TV for Christmas. The sound quality on the TV was terrible. See review by Alec Bentley and others. My husband complanied to Philips. They said they have fixed the sound issues plus sent us a new TV. Replacement TV sound is much better. I think as good as any of the very slim TV's. We were impressed that Philips responded to our complaint. Be aware the plastic surrounding the TV is black not dark green as it appears in all of Philips illustrations.

4GREAT VISUALS!!! onboard speakers leave much to be desired
By Joshsc
Has every input/out you'll need. AMAZING video. Great profile and looks. The onboard speakers are very weak in every category. Highly recommend this tv IF you plan on using an external stereo system with it (as I do)

3Sent it back to Amazon - sound is terrible.
By Pamela J. Castillo
I'm not a techno geek. Just wanted a reasonably priced TV for our bedroom. This one seemed to have all the amenities for a much lower price than most in it's category (such as the Samsung). I read the feedback that the sound wasn't great but thought it couldn't be that bad. Well it is. It sounds like a transistor radio. The speaker faces the back and you cannot adjust for more full sound depth. It sounds like its coming from a tin can. The picture was just okay too. I thought I could add some speakers for around $50 and then be happy with it but the speakers I ordered arrived and they could not be hooked up without an amplifier so I had to return them. All I wanted is decent sound, not asking for super duper theater quality. So it went back today after I received my new Panasonic TV. What a difference. It cost much less and sound is great with a great picture too.

4Hveto diagree with oter reviewers
By Sean
I just go this TV and I too had trouble setting it up. I called the support number in th quick setup guide and was able to set it up and achieve the picture I expected. Love the internet WiFI feature. The alphabet input is annoying I agree but not impossible to negotiate...having the usb connect certainly is a way to improve it. For the price - $499 @ Costco w/ 2 yr warranty and $29 to add 3 more years w/ ability to exchange for replacement is a good deal for the product. Most Smart TVs are running 800 to over 1000. I'll update if things change.

3Decent TV, nothing spectacular
By Jeremy Stewart
My wife and I were in the market for a new TV and looking to replace a 32" VIZIO LCD that we had in the bedroom that was slowly dying ( we did have it for about 7 years, so I felt that was fairly acceptable for a TV I spent $300 and change on ). I wanted something that supported DLNA as I have a media server with rips of our DVDs & Blu-ray purchases.Overall the TV is very nice. The presets aren't too bad, and once you turn off the adaptive backlight control the picture can be really nice. The one place where this panel can struggle is in really dark scenes, where even with all the noise & artifact reduction set to the max, you'll still see the noise in the background. It's definitely more noticeable compared to the Samsung 47" LCD we have in the living room. It doesn't make it unwatchable and after about 2 weeks with the TV I am noticing it less, but likely only because I'm getting used to it. In bright colorful scenes, this TV is absolutely gorgeous and you'll be pleased to have it, when watching dark shows like The Following, there will be scenes that are hit or miss. Sound is actually pretty decent for these super thin TVs coming out now. There does seem to be MORE sound directed BEHIND the television than in front, but it seems to direct it in front fairly well. A sound bar would likely be a worthy investment for this TV ( or most ANY thin TVs now ), but it's not required ( just makes sure it's not against a shared wall if you're watching TV really loudly :) ).The three places where this TV kind of falls short are: DLNA Video format support, overall interface & the remote. I think most everyone here has touched on the interface so I won't go too much into it, but it is slow & clunky to deal with. Sometimes it is so slow it's difficult to know if it responded to your last input. DLNA video support is very limited. MP4 playback is non-existent, MKV also fails, and very few AVis actually play. I updated my twonky server ( runs on a WD MyBook Live ) and it finally started to play some of the AVIs better. I then updated the firmware on the TV and I had Amazon streaming too which is nice, but the UI is far from ideal. Finally, the remote. The remote is terribly weak, where it has to be pointed DIRECTLY at the lower left corner of the TV for the commands to register, and if there's even the slightest blockage forget anything working.Overall, I don't reget the purchase, and getting it for $479 + tax is definitely a steal for a "Smart" TV of this size. While it's not perfect it will more than suffice for watching TV before bed.

5God value
By R. E. Atkins
I bought this tv after looking at many others. It is the second Vizio smart tv that i have bought. Both are providing outstanding service. The color is vivid and the internet features are just right if you are a member of Netflix and Amazon prime which I am. It is not to difficult to get it set up and running but it does take patience as there are minimal directions that come with the tv. You have to download the manual from the internet....which I advise you to do so. All in all a very good buy in the 40" smart tv market. It does not have many bells and whistles thus the low price for this kind of tv. And....it doesn't hurt that it is made in the USA either.

3Many DON'T HAVE SAMSUNG PANELS - HUGE quality difference
By HopefullyThoughtful
Many of these TVs don't have a Samsung panel (the screen/the part that has/makes the image!)! I cannot believe this has not been mentioned. It makes a SUBSTANTIAL difference, because some panels they use should be in TV's that cost $100 less.[...]Can you imagine buying a car because you know its manufacturer uses great, reliable engines, only to find out that they use completely different engines without telling you, all of which are of lower quality? Samsung does this with their TVs, and some of them don't EVER have Samsung panels (e.g., the 37" model will NEVER have a Samsung panel because they don't make 37" panels). Samsung uses 4 different panel types from four different manufacturers - each with a substantially different technology. You can tell which panel YOUR TV has by the "Version" on the sticker outside of the box. There's also a sticker on the back of the TV; the "Version" code is below the Model number and above the S/N. BTW, reviews can't be interpreted without the four-digit Version code because they are quite simply different TV's. Here's how to interpret them:("x" means a number, probably from 1-4, that represents the version of that panel - higher means newer but not always better).TH0x or TS0x: Samsung S-PVA panel (possibly just a PVA, if you're less lucky): This is what you thought you were buying. Best color, best black, best viewing angles.HS0x: Sharp ASV panel: Lower contrast ratio, more narrow viewing angle. I read HS02 in particular has terrible ghosting.A_0X: AOU A-MVA panel: Even lower contrast ratio.CH0x or CM0x or CS0x: Chimea S-MVA panel: You lost the lottery. Markedly worse in every way - way worse viewing angle, color reproduction, etc. Just a terrible rip-off.Mine, from Amazon, is an HS03, so a Sharp panel. I will be testing it tomorrow (DVD and watching football - no Blu-ray). There is a decent chance I return it, because it is not a Samsung. Also? Sony and Panasonic do much less "panel lottery" and are vowing to stop entirely. LG does not do a panel lottery. Samsung has absolutely no plans to stop, and they only use "standards" that won't reveal a difference between the different panels.I will update after doing more testing. I just simply could not believe that this was not mentioned. Nothing like finding out you paid $500 (40" model) for a $400 TV when that extra $100 could have been used for sound, Blu-Ray, etc.**Other reviewers, please, update your reviews to give your version code!**More reading:[...]UPDATED 10/24/12: Added info on how to find version number without the box.

5Great TV after a lot of tweaking
By Gordon
If you're anything like me you see that this TV is labeled as LED; then you look at the picture and see a lot of fat for the usual Samsung LED depth. Make no mistake this is an LED TV. I got this for my bedroom to replace my 23 inch Samsung Syncmaster. I use this TV mostly for 1080 mp4 movies and blurays (I download what I want to watch instead of waiting for it on cable), and my Xbox and PS3.I learned 2 things about the TV right off the bat. If you have Comcast, you cannot fully customize the TV's picture. An essential feature called HDMI black levels actually looks much better when its set to low. I have 2 different Comcast HD boxes and since neither of them broadcast at 1080, this feature is locked out. Long story short, Comcast had me thinking I purchased my first dud from Samsung. Seriously, the colors look washed out and none of the channels really had that crisp clear picture I was hoping for. If you plan to use this solely for Comcast, I can't really recommend it. In fact, I've always found blu ray quality to be so much better than cable that I've stopped using cable for anything but football and cartoons. Movies MUST be in my PS3's blu ray player or my own 1080p files. The second thing I learned about is what the depth is for. Samsung didn't advertise this (or maybe its just my TV), but I have absolutely NO BACKLIGHT BLEED. When Black Ops goes to the loading screen on my Xbox, it gets so dark that I think the TV is off! The only indication that it is on is the Black Ops logo in the corner spinning. There isn't even the SLIGHTEST inkling of white anywhere! I'm not exaggerating. The obvious second reason why this TV is fat for an LED is that Samsung made an effort to improve the sound. When I turn on the HD surround coupled with the movie option, there is much more bass than I thought it would be. THe explosions in my games and the soundtracks in movies sound vastly better than I thought they would. Granted, I am not the type to go out and spend 600 on some Bose speakers, but the sound is NOT a con for me this time around.NOW ON TO THE PICTUREAs I said, I was not exactly thrilled with the picture RIGHT off the bat. It looked like my old 23 inch Syncmaster, just a lot bigger. Let me tell you, this is not one of those TV's that look great right out of the box. You have to toy around with the settings a bit to get the optimal picture. I wanted sharpness coupled with colors that pop like crazy.....and I got it. Dynamic is the brightest setting, but I coupled this with the HDMI black levels set to low (option not available for Comcast cable box) and voila, moving photographs! I'm not a pro but this is my setup:Mode: DynamicBacklight: 18Contrast: 85Brightness: 50Sharpness: 80Color: 70TInt: G/R 50/50Standard color tone with screen fit in the additional options, with HDMI black level set to low.My games and blurays look AMAZING. The picture is easily better than my mom's 46 inch Samsung up front. REMEMBER that some of the good options are cut off from Comcast and the use of component cables. In games, I do have to up the brightness or gamma a little, but it ends up looking BRILLIANT. I am going through my entire library of games and they feel like entirely new experiences! There is a 32 inch 720p option as well, but I just was not comfortable with 720p max. The new game consoles are gojng to have native 1080 so that's what I wanted. BTW did I mention I'm a big gamer?THE CONSWell I saw this TV up on Amazon before it was on Samsung's website. Yeah, WOW. Sometimes I wanted to see the TVs specs from Samsung directly before I made my buy. Make no mistake this is NOT a 120 HZ tv although it is labeled as one. I have no idea what clearmotion 120 is, but it makes my TV much darker. The feature is entirely useless and does nothing to the picture or add the "soap opera" effect like I had hoped (it looks great for games).WITH A COMCAST CABLE BOX I could see no difference between HDMI and component. I kept switching back and fourth, but since the max output is 1080i, there were no differences in picture. The last iteration of this TV had 4 HDMIs. What happened?VERDICTWith a lot of tweaking, I got the picture to look beautiful. I will use my Comcast box sparingly, but I might move to FIOS if the support full 1080. Watching movies on my PS3 and playing games on my Xbox stopped me from returning the TV. I will not be surprised if this set gets bad reviews from Comcast users (even though Its not Samsung's fault). I'm a "videophile" and this passed my personal test with vibrant colors.FEEL FREE TO ASK ME ANYTHING!

4Very pleased
By wfc
As a grandmother who is not as technologically advanced as the younger generation, I did have concerns about buying a television that had to be programmed and the stand installed before using. However, my fears were unwarranted. As soon as I turned it on, I was stepped through the programming and the stand or base was very simple to install. With the weight only being less than 15 pounds, I was also easily able to manuever it by myself. I was watching programs within an hour although younger people would have managed all of this in fifteen minutes. My initial reason for wanting a newer television was due to my waning vision so had been looking into the 1080p with a 32" screen for some time. I can't believe how much I can read on that screen now that wasn't clear to me before. I had been advised that Samsung was one of most trustworthy brands, but found them locally to be out of my price range. This one was reasonably priced and with my Amazon Prime membership was shipped to me free and quickly I might add.I am very pleased with the color and the sound plus the ease of use with the remote in case I do have to change the color or sound in the future. I'm not thrilled with having to adjust the size of the picture when going from watching a news program with written information at the bottom of the screen to watching a movie, but it is easy to do so will just have to adjust to that feature.

5Awesome TV if the right picture setting are used & here they are
By CrazyShopper918
Use the picture settings in my Review listed at the end and the Samsung un55d7000 will look awesome. First off I notice major black light bleed out of the box & even after tweaking the TV on my own until I found the right settings from a other users. What I really like about this tv is that my playstation 3 is synced with the tv. My tv come's on when the playstation is turned on and I can control my ps3 with my Samsung remote nice feature. The tv is nice a thin not very heavy. The 2d to 3d conversion is total crap some stuff looks good but for the most part it's a BIG gimmick. Movies & stuff filmed in 3D look amazing sometimes it's a hit & miss. So far my favorite 3d movies are : ( Monsters Vs Aliens ) ( avatar ) ( Despicable me ) Resident evil looked like crap & I really didn't like monster house. I am hoping the studios will improve 3D filming and make live action films pop out more. I tried some playstation 3 games in 3d I like the idea but WoW it really makes your eyes hurt after awhile.Setting up the tv was pretty easy I did found setting up the wireless on the Tv to be a real pain. I am pretty good with computers and wireless network it was still a pain. I have a netgear router and I was not able to link it with normal settings the tv kept saying my pass word was wrong password ended up doing the button method on my router and samsung tv. Right away the Tv found the router and no more issues. Now for the calibration settings that will make your set look amazing and reduce the famous Samsung clouding issue and black light bleeding which I couldn't stand until this ! Make sure you have a hdmi 1.4 cable I did notice a issue with my old hdmi cable and the 1.4 cable solved the slow lag, any cheap one will do as long as it's 1.4PICTUREPicture Mode MovieBacklight 8 (3D: 11)Contrast 92Brightness 48Sharpness 15Color 50Tint 50/50ADVANCEDBlack Tone OffDynamic Contrast OffShadow Detail 0Gamma 0Color Space CustomFlesh Tone 0Edge Enhancement OffMotion Lighting Off <<<< THIS IS WHAT CAUSES CLOUDING I THINKxvYCC OffLed Motion Plus OffPICTURE OPTIONSColour Tone Warm2Digital Noise Filter OffMpeg Noise Filter OffHDMI Black level LowFilm Mode n/aMotion Plus Clear R G BColour Space Red 58 2 0Colour Space Green 0 58 9Colour Space Blue 7 0 54Colour Space Yellow 48 53 7Colour Space Cyan 0 54 58Colour Space Magenta 56 4 45R-Offset 20G-Offset 24B-Offset 24R-Gain 19G-Gain 26B-Gain 25 R G B1 5 1 -22 2 0 -13 0 0 -14 -2 -3 -35 0 -2 -36 1 1 -47 2 3 08 1 2 09 -1 2 210 0 1 1Make sure you select each color in the color space and enter them like above. If you don't like the setting simple reset your picture but honestly you will notice a HUGE difference right away with just these settings.

4Backlight bleeding - Not an expert review but will help you a lot
By Ricardo Villamar Pazmino
I'm going to cut down to the chase. The TV has so many good features (especially design) that are too many to list, thus, I will focus on the two things I have encountered that I know someone else might have experienced or will experience and are rather disappointing...but don't lose your hopes just yet!1) Backlight bleeding - My TV came set up for 'store' usage mode, instead for 'home', which increases the bleeding drastically.Changing to 'home' is quite challenging so you have to read the manual. After I changed the usage mode to 'home', it decreased considerably but was still noticeable.I visited some forums, websites, and some even advised to put pressure on the screen with my fingers (until I see the screen changing colors), etc, but nothing seemed to work.I decided to contact Samsung support and they advised me to change PICTURE MODE to 'STANDARD' and adjust the 'BACKLIGHT' to the value of '7'. The support guy/girl mentioned to leave this setting on for 3 weeks. After the three weeks, I should be able to change to any picture mode and to any value for the backlight. Finally, it was mentioned that if I did not see any changes, that a service ticket needs to be placed at this link (you will need to register your TV with Samsung): [...]I made the change today 4/15/2011 so I will wright another review within 3 weeks to let you know the end results.2) Sound stops working - I only have a PS3 and a DirecTV satellite box connected to the TV via HDMI cables (hight speed and 3D capable). I have noticed the TV produces no sound for like 1 second and then gradually comes back at a lower volume until it reaches the original volume. I have also noticed it only happens when the picture is set to 'STANDARD' and have only noticed it when the source is the DirecTV box.I do not run the PS3 on standard mode so I can't compare, but I will do so and pay attention to the results. In summary, I have to wait for the 3 weeks picture test, and also test the sound using the PS3 source on standard mode.I know it's a hassle but for a TV that costs over $2000, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get a "perfect" picture and normal working sound (although you would not expect to do this since you are paying a lot of money)...And if you got this TV from Paul'sTV (whether by Amazon's reseller program or directly from them) expect to pay 15% restocking fee and $100 shipping if you plan to return it.Hope this helps and please post any questions/comments you may have, and I will try to answer them as soon as possible.

3Great TV... If there is no flaw.
By N.A
I just got the TV in today, and from I experience so far is that this TV is amazing.Black level is great! One of the best I seen so far.Internet connection is great on the TV. Very useful for watching Netflix. The qwerty remotes that came with my TV is very useful for web browsing, but don't expect the browser to be like normal computer browser because it is very bad, slow, hard to navigate, and cumbersome. For gaming, in my opinion, there is no lag if you turn off the picture enhancements options, and also turning on the game mode. I would say the lag on the TV would be probably somewhere between 30-50ms.3D is great! I watched Shrek 3D, and it's just stunning. A major improvement from last year model. I probably will buy Tron 3D, and see it on the TV soon.Cons: HDMI input is located on the side. Clouding & Flashlighting that can be seen in dark screen.Update: After 2 weeks of having the TV I noticed some flash lighting / clouding that can be seen in pitch black room. Not a big deal at first, but overtime I am starting to be annoyed by it. I am thinking of getting it exchange for higher end model. Therefore I am rating the TV 3/5 stars. If would be a solid 5 stars if there is no flaw.Update 2: Returned my set and bought 46" Sony HX929.

5First Class 3D TV
By Bob Drake
The impressive thing about the Vizio E3D320VX is the way it is packed and the attention to detail. They give you a full sized Phillips screw driver to install the base, and eight stainless bolts when you need only six. The remote batteries are Mitsubishi alkaline, not some cheap "heavy duty" items. Both the panel and the glasses come with Vizio supplied cleaning cloths. The TV is easy to set up, and the remote has a rubberized alphanumeric keyboard on the back side, making data entry easy. The two supplied 3D glasses are of the passive, polarized variety, with the premium one contoured and the basic one flat. (However you might want to liberate a pair of Real D 3D glasses from the movie theater if you wear glasses. Both of these bend in at the temples to hug your face. The Real D 3D glasses accommodate glasses better.)The 3D and 2D pictures are both great as is the TV off-air picture using a Terk HD digital antenna here in the NYC area. The 3D (using a Panasonic 3D player) is bright and truly 3D. (The TV indicates with a dialog box that it has detected a 3D source and asks if you want to switch to 3D.)It has a built-in wireless Wi-Fi receiver (not an expensive extra like my Panasonic plasma) and is easy to connect using the alphanumeric keyboard on the remote.I am still exploring the various extras. But things look good so far!ADDED 5/21/11:A recent Samsung ad tells the difference between the active 3D TVs that they sell (both LCD and plasma) versus passive 3D TVs like this Vizio (and some LG models). Yes, they are correct that there is a minor "venetian blind effect" (light horizontal bars), particularly on white block text, but it is not really visible when you are watching a movie. (In truth, each eye is seeing a 1920x540 image simultaneously on a passive TV whereas each eye sees a 1920x1080 image with active glasses (in succession, one eye at a time, as the L and R lenses switch on and off).) But, with the convenience and cost of passive glasses ("free" at the movies), and the cost of the Vizio TV itself, the Vizio passive "Theater 3D" is very, VERY nice if not absolutely perfect.ADDED 5/30/11:I've watched Avatar 3D, How to Train Your Dragon 3D, and Megamind 3D on the Vizio and enjoyed every minute. This Vizio TV has RCA audio out whereas many panel TVs do not. (They have only optical audio out.) I output the sound to a pair of Audioengine 2 - PC multimedia speakers - 30 Watt (total) - 2-way - satin black and an Audioengine AS8 - Subwoofer - 125 Watt - black in the bedroom without a receiver, so the RCA-out audio is a necessity.Reflecting on the CONS in another review: (1) Yes, the boot-up is slow for a solid-state device, but may have to do with the fluorescent lighting panel behind the screen rather than the LCD screen itself. (2) I do not get any buzzing at all. (3) The compact remote is a plus to me. The small buttons are no problem if you are used to the keyboard on an iphone. The rubberized alpha-numeric keyboard on the back is a plus as are the direct-connect Netflix labeled button (and others) on the front of the remote.Keep in mind this is a $500 3D set.ADDED 8/13/11:[SEE NOTE BELOW] This passive 3D TV does not seem to work in conversion mode with the newer players that convert 2D -> 3D, specifically the Panasonic 310. The 2D and 3D images are perfect, but the 2D->3D conversion results in a flickering image that is 3D but hard on the eyes. The same 310 works well in conversion mode on my 600Hz Panasonic plasma. Perhaps the problem is that the 32" Vizio is 60Hz. In any case there is an apparent incompatibility problem. If I learn how to prevent the flickering I will report back.ADDED 9/24/11:In Comments, C. Anderson explained how to get this set to work in 2D->3D conversion and it works. His procedure: Turn on your Blu ray player and navigate to setup, next go to player settings, then push TV/Device Connection. Go to 3D settings and then go to 3D type, click this and change it to Side by Side. [I got a warning saying that the set is capable of Full HD, which is true, but not in 2D->3D conversion.] Once you have changed it to Side by Side, the problem is fixed. Now insert a non-3D movie you want to watch in 3D, and push the 3D button on the player remote to select 2D->3D. Your TV will sense 3D content and ask you if you want to watch 3D or 2D. You will only have a few seconds to push Yes, so be ready with the Vizio remote or it will revert to 2D.Note that there have been reports that Vizio will not act on defective sets after the 1 year warranty is up. PERIOD. They will not repair sets AT ALL. While in warranty they will replace sets with refurbished units. So buy a Square Trade warranty of your choice of length FROM AMAZON within 90 days of placing your order (not delivery). Square Trade will not sell warranties from their Website for units bought at certain stores like Amazon, Best Buy, and a few others.ADDED 5/26/12:Still going strong. Zero problems. Remote repelled some liquid with no ill effects.ADDED 7/24/12:Still going strong. Zero problems.

5Awesome 3D TV for the Price ..
By Muhammad S. Ali
I had been researching 3D TVs for over a year before I bought this TV. Plasma had my vote as lack of deep black levels were something that were very noticeable for me on my last two televisions. I had been interested in Panasonic GT25 series for a while but the cost of active shutter glasses and up-keep (battery, wear and tear etc.) was prohibitive (this being a 2nd TV in the bedroom). The first I had heard about FPR passive glasses based devices was about a year ago. They were said to be the next best thing but being a geek who has been burned before I was initially skeptical that the 3D effect would be very good. I was certain there will be sacrifices in image quality for 2D however I was actually very surprised by the image quality (both 2D and 3D) on this television. The device simply can not be beat in terms of image quality and features at this low price (Similarly capable LG TVs (albeit with 240 Hz and some extra bells and whistles) cost more than twice as much).I have had an HDTV (this being my 3rd) for the past 5 years and this TV has the best image quality and features and costs the least.PROS:- Even though this is an LCD panel the blacks levels are actually pretty good.- PS3 and XBOX360 on HDMI look fantastic and there are several modes available to tweak color temp and/or brightness hue contrast levels.- 3D effect looks amazing with both games and movies. I have had the TV for only a day so I have not had a chance to watch a full length 3D movie yet. 3D games I tried include wipeout HD which looks amazing. I had tried this game previously on a 3D Sony TV before and this one looks just as good while costing one 3rd.- Lots of options are available for different settings e.g. Zoom has 4 settings (normal, wide, zoom, panoramic)- Internet apps are available for flickr, facebook, NEtflix, VUDU, Amazon video on demand, Blockbuster and lots of news station. Not needing to power up my PS3 (for netflix) or my PC (for amazon video on demand) mean power savings :).- Qwerty keyboard on the remote makes using these internet apps a breeze.- The TV has wifi n and ethernet both which makes it very flexible. It has 3 HDMI ports and 1 component and 1 VGA port.- It has capability to play songs and display pictures a usb disk (has 2-3 usb ports, I tried connecting my western digital passport and it worked great)but no movies. Pictures app has a lot of different transitions that make the slideshow and normal photo viewing great.- The passive glasses are much lighter and more comfortable than active shutter glasses I had tried before. I wear glasses so I have to wear these on top of my existing ones and they have been much easier to handle than other glasses. I believe one can get clip-on type attachments (generic variety not from Vizio) for prescription glasses as well.CONS:- None that I can think of. The TV has surpassed my expectations for its price. To nitpick it is not 240HZ, or LED backlit, does not support PIP or POP. There are less options available compared to TVs that cost more than twice as much.- After a couple of weeks of use I can definitely say that the TV is a little slow to start compared to my older HDTV, granted this one has internet apps (implying an embedded processor with an OS that needs to boot) but it is a noticeable difference. Since, this feature was not something I could test with other floor models, this could just be the norm for internet enabled TVs.UPDATE APRIL 16th 2011:- Confirmed that movie playback from usb disks is not supported as mentioned in the manual.- I had a chance to watch some more 3D content (Tangled 3D, Super stardust HD, mortal Kombat 3D demo, KillZone 3 3D demo) and played around with some internet apps like Vudu and netflix and all looked great. I have not tried the wifi n link as I have it connected via wired ethernet. Vudu has a test festure built-in that tells you what format (SD, 720P, 1080P would be most suitable as they are priced differently. There are not a lot of choices though and the prices are pretty high (4.99 - 6.99 for 720p to 1080p rentals) but they are sometimes better than Sony Playstation Network especially for 3D movies.UPDATE APRIL 25th 2011:- Added more information and my thoughts after a couple of weeks of use.- I also tried IZ3D with every setting but could not get 3D (for PC)to work over HDMI. Maybe it will work over RGB but for my setup HDMI looks and works better so that is not an option I was going to try.- I would also like to add that sound quality is actually decent on this device, depending on the source of the original material sound is clear. I was going to buy a sound bar for this TV (since it is in my bedroom) but i guess i can wait until the next version comes out in July instead of buying last years model.

5Best Deal for the Price
By Andrew Fujii
If you're looking for a 3D internet connected TV, then this is the one to buy. This TV is probably the best overall value out there right now. Picture is incredible and sound is adequate. By "adequate" I mean that the sound is good enough if this is a TV for your room. If this is a TV is for a family or entertainment room, you may want to buy external speakers just to improve the overall quality of sound. The internet connectivity and available apps is really nice. If you are a Netflix or Hulu+ user, this will be extremely convenient. There is plenty of apps for sports updates too.3D is a really nice touch to the TV. I've tried a few things in 3D and can say that you really will get a solid 3D experience from this TV. However you can't be sitting anywhere you want to. The manual comes with a diagram of "optimal 3D viewing". From certain side angles you won't get the 3D viewing. The only major issue I've had with this TV is when using a PS3 to play video games. Ghosting (motion blur) can be an issue as well as awkward pixelations and lag when viewing in 1080p. Vizio support was more than helpful with this. They recommended changing the output settings on my PS3 which ended up fixing the problem for the most part.Overall I highly recommend this TV for anyone who is looking for the most advanced TV tech available, while still being able to afford it.**UPDATE 5/14/11: PS3 Settings to Reduce Ghosting and Eliminate Lag**After playing with a ton of combinations of settings I found the following PS3 settings to work best while gaming in 2D. These settings were based on MLB 11: The Show because that particular game had the worst ghosting issues out of my games. Other games, may not need these settings. The TV settings listed below are absolutely necessary to have. It will eliminate any lag that you might experience.PS3 Settings:--Go to 'Video Settings' and set '1080p 24HzOutput (HDMI)' to OFF.--Go to 'Display Settings' and change 'Video Output Settings' to 720p. To change this setting you have to choose 'Manual' when it prompts you to choose.--The only other setting (which I'm not positive I actually changed or if this setting was default) was in 'Game Settings'. I have 'PS Smoothing' set to OFF.TV Settings:--TV Settings: Hit 'Menu' on your TV Remote and go to 'Settings'. Make sure the 'Input Source' is set to whatever input your PS3 is using. Go to 'Game Mode' and choose 'ON'. This eliminates all lag while gaming which was a huge problem initially.
