After reading the reviews of the Cloud TV Box, I felt this might be a reasonable alternative to Roku. However, the product turned out to be toy-like. The remote was a challenge and the mouse was not much more effective. It is a great idea, with great marketing. And, nothing kills an inferior product faster than good marketing. I ended up returning the unit and buying a Roku. Even though the Roku does not have URL based web access, it is a superior product in every other way.

I purchased this item just before Labor Day and my family and I are quite happy with it. My sister bought a Roku 2 XS three months ago, which I helped her setup, so I know these two boxes well. Roku is also good, but Cloud TV Box has many more functions. Here is why I prefer the Cloud TV Box:Setup and StartupSetting up the Cloud TV Box is quite easy. Simply use the HDMI cable that comes with the box to link it to your TV. Then plug in the power adaptor, and press the Power button on the unit and it will start up. You can use the remote or the wireless mouse to operate the Cloud TV Box. I found it unusual that no registration was necessary for an internet device. Perhaps that changes in the future. We'll wait and see.When setting up Roku, you will firstly need to buy a HDMI cable and then will need to use a computer to register the product before you can operate it. What I found ridiculous is that you have to provide a credit card. After already paying for Roku why would someone need to submit a credit card before they can use it? Perhaps Roku has future commercial plans, but I don't like this way of collecting a customer's personal information. After registering on your computer, you will also need to select programming before you can go back to your Roku box to start operating it.Content comparisonThe Cloud TV Box has four function areas, the function of the central part "Streaming+" has covered all Roku's content and provides also perfect images.Roku 2 XS is an excellent streaming box, the image quality is perfect.Roku 2 XS has longer backup list including a lot of local religious websites and foreign websites, especially Indian websites. For U.S. content, both have almost the same streaming content.TV channel contentI am happy to know I can watch some TV content for free. Usually, I watch only news and sports. I can find full news reports from CNN, FOX, ABC, BBC, CBN, CBS, and others. The advantage is that most news on the Cloud TV Box is Video On Demand so I can watch content instantly instead of having to wait until it's being shown at a certain time. I can find some sports news, but no live sporting events which I can understand as most live events will need to paid for in some way to watch. Some of the content is High Quality, some not. For HQ content, I would like to recommend the following channels: Geek Beat TV, TLC, CW, BBC, Showtime, tbs, E! Entertainment, Lifetime, Cartoon Network, Fox and CNN. An improvement would be for Sungale to divide content by image quality.Networked featuresThe Cloud TV Box has a browser, map, Gmail, Facebook, Skype, Picasa, you can add Twitter which Roku does not have. I did not encounter any "converted to Asian Script" problem mentioned by above guy. Everything works well.Special featuresGAME and EDUCATION are two folders I like very much. I have downloaded many of them from the Play Store. Both of them worked well. Roku does not have these functions. At Roku, the only game you can play is Angry Birds. On the Cloud TV Box, you can play as many as your wish.APPSThe preloaded Weather, Calendar, Clock applications worked awkward and looked ugly. I dislike them. You can download an almost endless amount of apps from the Play Store which is really great. Some apps however are not compatible with this box. Roku does not have these functions.Product ConceptRoku is a streaming box... maybe the best streaming box in the market. Cloud TV Box is a Smart TV Box with a totally different product concept. Judging from my technical background, it is quite obvious that Roku is working on a linux platform, and Cloud TV Box is working on an Android platform. These are different generation platforms.HardwareThe bad impression I had on the Cloud TV Box is its wireless mouse and remote control. Both of them seem too simple and low tech for such a hi-tech product. I have ordered another remote at (...). Roku's hardware would be good enough if they included a HDMI cable in the packaging.

I am a person who is not very high-tech. I used to stream drama and movies through a laptop computer and link the computer to my TV, but that is such a waste of my computer. I brought it because many of my friends bought it. And I really like it. The installation is easy and operation is easy too. There are many pre-installed popular app and games which I really enjoy. The wireless mouse that comes together with the TV box makes the box easy to operate. I can also customize app to my own needs. Very happy with the product and very happy to free my laptop.
